Rabbitohs rumours, signings, injuries etc

If we're talking about giving Crichton 800k then I wonder what AJ deserved to be resigned on. He actually did feature in our 2014 premiership. He would of been the top try scorer if he didn't get injured. He can play both wing and fullback. If Crichton's getting 800k then surely AJ is worth at least 500k. We'll be out of salary cap space after we resign 13 players with the logic in here.
AJ only just recently showed he's really capable at fullback..... for a while he really struggled when given chances there....

Defence is not a strong point at all for AJ.

I'd say AJ is on about the 400 mark....

I've spoken to other mates who support Parra, Sharks, Dragons etc....... I asked them what is Crichton worth and what will it take and they said 700-750.

It could be a recipe for disharmony though.
If Crichton stays Cody goes.......

I wouldn't blame him as he's on peanuts.....

Let the ones who don't want to play for us walk then.........

Once they play like Angus has then they can warrant more money with us or elsewhere...

STID I believe Crichton is more of a game breaker and changes a game moreso than Murray or Fui who don't have that impact yet......

700k he should be paid Southy with some TPA's on the side....

The cap goes up to 9.6 million too I believe......

I reckon Crichton will hold off on a decision until at least mid next year. He will want to see how 2018 pans out. Can't blame him really.

God I hope we keep him. By the time he's in his prime, he'll be one of the best in the NRL.

I wonder if people said the same thing about Carney.

That's a stupid stupid stupid stupid comment mate...... sorry I can't see the reasoning here......

Look at what Crichton does in the community and for Aboriginal people and some people in need....... he's very level headed..... very smart too from what I can gather...

This guy won't go off the rails I don't think........

Crichton is what you build a club around along with Murray.......

Ahh so now Crichton is immune to making mistakes? I would think he is the next saviour.

It's not a stupid comment. All it takes is 1 bad night out to destroy a players career. Do you really think Carney or Pearce are bad blokes?!

Carney's career was basically destroyed by a stupid drunken mistake. I've seen friends drunk do much worse things than the "bubbler". He didn't hurt anybody, yet his career was destroyed. If the average person did what Carney did they'd be glorified as a legend among mates.

Crichton is extremely young compared to most top NRL players. Throwing so much cash at such a young player is bound to have consequences.

Carney made mistake after mistake and he had numerous chances......

It may have consequences it may not......

I believe Angus has a very level head on his shoulders..... he's humble.......

So you're telling me the same about Nathan Cleary as well hey?????? So it's bound to have consequences on him too????? I highly doubt it...

Fui will be very good but I don't think he will reach the heights Angus will.......

To all these hooligans saying oh 2022 do they realise that when young players turn out really good you can't keep them all..... So you need some experienced players too who are solid...... Goodwin was an example of this and we needed to keep him...

My top 2 priorities would be keeping Angus and Murray......

Fui may go elsewhere at some point.....

Im not saying it's going to happen. Please point out where I said it's going to happen?!

I'm just saying it's easy for a player with a lot of potential to crash and burn. It doesn't even have to be because of poor performances either.

In contrary to popular belief most NRL players have a level head on their shoulders. It is very difficult to break into the NRL with a poor mindset.

Walker, Murray, Fuimaono. The funny thing is Murray and Fuimaono are rookies as well. Where Angus has an extra year under his belt. They are all just as crucial to this teams sucess as Crichton is.
Angus is better than Fui by a fair margin and has more room for improvement imo. If Murray has the same season next year that Angus had this year, then yeah, he deserves a raise. If we have Murray, Angus and Fui in 3 years time, we will hve the best backrow in the comp. Add in Sam and Musgrove up front and we may have the best pack in the comp.

You dont pay up for wingers. If he proves he is a top fullback then you pay him when GI’s deal is done. He has had 1 solid stretch at fullback. You do not give 500k to a winger who’s had 6 good games at fullback.

Well you said it's bound to have consequences throwing that money at him so I know what that implies to me...

I agree with what you say STID about players going off the rails. There is always a chance that it'll happen to young players and careers can be destroyed by one stupid decision.

However, I also agree with R20 that Gus is an old head on young shoulders. Very mature, level headed and extremely humble. Just a great bloke and I'd think he'd know better.

That's not to say he's ammune to mistakes as they can happen to anyone though.

We'd have to go with some cheaper options in the backs and hope for some youngsters but I guess that'd be ok....

I believe Doueihi will take over Cody for 2019.

If Angus stays we don't have the money to give Cody his 500-550k.

We could pay Doueihi around the 300 mark I reckon.....

600k would be a steal but I’d pay up to 800k if I had to. He is going to captain the club, will play 20 SoO games and represent Australia. He is an absolute gem.
Spot on......

In a couple of years if Murray still provides his strong hit ups and metres plus his high tackle counts then he will be upgraded.....

Who knows in a couple of years he could be on 550k.

The cap is going up to 9.8 million for 2020 isn't it??

What do you guys think Angus is worth???

I would say 700k out of the 9.6 mil cap for 2019..... hopefully some TPA's on the side.....

Doesn't it go up to 9.8 mil for 2020???

If we give him 700 for 2019 and 750 for 2020 & 21 I'm happy with that....

So a 3 yr 2.2/2.3 million dollar deal.

Plus I'd up him for next season to what we can....

Maybe 500k for next season if we can afford it....

If Napa is on 700k as rumoured then Angus deserves that

For mine it really doesn't matter what figures we are suggesting what Angus is worth, with the right people in the office and with TPA you could hide a elephant in a match box and not get caught.
What it comes down to is Angus himself to be happy with the environment and club culture around him, this is more than money can buy.
Angus is very open on his admiration for our indigenous heritage and our Souths cares management and for a young guy is very driven on success.
So for mine if Angus is happy with the club behind the scenes we are more than likely in with a big show of retaining him.
On the field it's now up to quite a few players we know who aren't performing for the coin that they are on,to pull their fingers out and earn their pay packet.
Mr Siebold has inherited a huge job!

At least i have comfort that you are nowhere near souths retention.angus is the one who may go elsewhere, fui is not a part of that topic, stop trying to bring him into it!
