I didn't
It is very difficult for the NRL to become popular with the ABC because it would take spending money on buttering them up (e.g. maybe invite them to the Dally M awards) and trying to get RL people into positions on shows and on boards etc. Doing the things AFL does.
All of that money would come under "admin costs" which the clubs watch like a hawke because that money could be going to them for spending on their own general wage increases.
But a majority of these panel shows and onlune presence are Melbourne based. Hence the bias.
Well I watched because I was hoping for a decent Ashes preview from Lalor but that got put on the backburner for some Union game nobody gives a shit about and the Socceroos coach talking about himself for 10 minutes.I repeat "Why do Rugby League fans watch this dross. Its a fumbleball love in"

Wish the clubs could have put the handbrake on all the other money Smith and Grant have peed away over the past 5 years...
Yeah so it could all go towards wrestling coaches and gold plated gyms.
How much money do you think the clubs are getting? After paying the salary cap it's a few million each... $40 million out of hundreds of millions a year the game is earning...
The clubs are a much bigger drain on the games resources than the AFL clubs are on the AFLs. Thats why the AFL are able to do things with their cash that leads to favourable ABC coverage, womens games, supporting expansion etc. Things that would be considered admin wastage by the NRL clubs who have a greedy need to consume more and more. For example the biggest beneficiary of the 130% are guys like Gould whose wage will go up by a corresponding amount equating to a total wastage of that money unless you are Gould or someone else in a similar role.
On the contrary, the AFL give a lot more $$$ to their clubs than the NRL clubs get... I suppose it helps that their administrators always get true market worth on their TV deals and the NRL is playing catch up all the time on theirs...
No - you are wrong. As a percentage of AFL revenue their clubs get a lot less. Even when you factor in the amounts the expansion clubs get for the purpose of growth of the game.
I just don't get the focus of some people on only the Clubs when there appears to me to be wastage of money occurring elsewhere...
Because the clubs are useless. Run by twits?
Every change that has been implemented or attempted in rugby league in the last ten years has needed the NRL to bash the clubs into seeing the point of it. Membership, player behaviour, salary caps, football department caps, a womens comp, state of origin, nines.
Show me the numbers then...
You tell me the NRL admin wastage that you are regurgitating from people like Gould.
The clubs concept of wastage is money going on things the doing of which they dont get because they are nuckle heads. They just see "why isn't that going to me?" Things like trying to butter up the ABC, or a womens game, nines, stadium research, digital etc. The AFL clubs have faith in the AFL in spending money on things that will grow the game.

Just because Gould says it doesn't make it wrong...
There has never been more money coming into the NRL - the majority of which is NOT going to clubs or players yet the game is going backwards.
Or are you happy wth junior numbers, country RL, crowds, expansion?
