It is pretty funny when the Poms start acting like they're a bunch of tough guys.

When the chips are down, the Aussies shut the hell up & wait for their moment to come back with a vengeance. The English throw their toys out, moan and whinge, skip tours, retire prematurely; a bunch of petulant twits. At least Athers and Hussain lost with dignity.

They are a tight bunch these Poms.
Close mates.
Definitely not a team of merkins.

Kevin Pietersen lashes out after latest Ashes incident

KEVIN Pietersen has taken aim at England and former teammate Andrew Strauss following the latest incident to hit the touring nation Down Under.
Ben Duckett was stood down from a tour game on Saturday and suspended after an incident in a Perth bar.

It was the first night after England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) director of cricket Andrew Strauss agreed to a relaxing of the midnight curfew placed on the Test squad a fortnight ago.

Pietersen didn’t hold back after hearing of the latest incident to encapsulate England on their tour to forget so far.

As this fresh controversy rocks an already unstable England, Pietersen took aim at the current side ahead of the third Test in Perth.

“It looks like the England batters are making out that this Australian bowling attack in their head is some of the fastest they’ve ever faced, is the scariest bowling they’ve ever faced and it looks like they’re just very nervous when they go out to bat,” Pietersen said on BT Sport.

“You need to get on top of them and you need to show them that you’re not scared and you’re not worried and there’s no-one in that England side at the moment that doesn’t look scared. And that’s my issue, that’s the concern.”

Not finished there, the former star slugger had some harsh words for former skipper Alastair Cook and current skipper Joe Root.

“Pretty well and it looks like Cook is not very interested,” Pietersen said.

“Just the way that he’s got out, the manner of his dismissals and also the way he’s walked off the field once he’s got out. That’s the sign of a bloke who goes, ‘You know what, maybe my time is up’”.

“Joe Root hasn’t set the world on fire at all, absolutely not by any stretch of the imagination,” Pietersen added.

“So it’s not as if we’re going to blame everyone else. You need to lead from the front in Australia.”

Coach Trevor Bayliss confirmed that Duckett was involved in an incident late Thursday where he poured a drink over a senior player, identified in reports as fast bowler James Anderson, following a heated row.

“I think that was the issue,” Bayliss said.

“It was boys being boys, I suppose, but totally unacceptable. It’s trivial, but in the current climate not acceptable.

“Everyone has been warned about how even small things can be blown out of all proportion.

“I’m disappointed. With what we have had to go through already with these problems, it is not acceptable.”

Bayliss said the Northants batsman was suspended by team management while a disciplinary investigation, which will be led by Lions coach Andy Flower, takes place.

“Andy will look after his player and if anything needs to be said or done with the first team, we’ll handle that,” Bayliss said.

“I’m not sure what more I can say to the players. I’m sure there will be some stern words from above.”

Bayliss agreed when asked if he was “fed up” about having to address off-field matters.

“Very much so. I’m here to coach the team and I end up spending most of the time trying to explain behaviour that the boys have been warned about,” he said.

Duckett, 23, has been touring Australia with England Lions and was among a number of players promoted for the current tour match while senior players rested ahead of next week’s all-important third Test against Australia in Perth.

Duckett pours a drink on Anderson (such a merkin thing to do to anyone) and it ends up being about Pietersen and Strauss

Jesus, even Graeme Hick kept coming back. Curbstomp after curbstomp.

There is a serious lack of intestinal fortitude in current English cricket. The bowling in particular.

There's already talk that the WACA pitch will be "batsman friendly".... such a shame it is no longer the unique fast, bouncy track that used to offer a bit for both swing bowlers as well as outright quicks... then it would inevtiably break up a bit and keep a bit lower.... I used to look forward to the WACA test so much because it offered something completely different than pretty much any other pitch on the planet...

Maybe I'm starting to sound like Chappelli, but it was a helluva pitch to face fast bowling on.... Especially against the likes of Andy Roberts, Michael Holding and Joel Garner.... the one thing you never want to do as a bowler when you get to the WACA is fall in to the trap of bowling too short... I've seen a lot of quicks turn up here and their eyes would light up and they's try and bowl a million miles an hour and.... Shit, there I go again sounding like Chappelli.... I'll just stop now.

I thought it was pretty ordinary to be honest. Back in my day they did a helluva lot better. John Snow did the best Chaps impersonation I ever saw, he was a helluva Chaps impersonator

I really do not understand the obsession with Mitch Marsh.

Everything in the media this week from Warne saying he needs to go back to Shield Cricket to find himself again and plastic face didn't know there is no Shield Cricket until February, or Slater claiming that Hadscombe looks "cooked" and I read something yesterday where Matt Hayden said he though Darsh Mk 2 was ready for a recall.

Mitch Marsh has bowled twice since a shoulder reconstruction and they say "he's ready".

Changing a line up is supposed to make it better not worse.

The sad thing is that had Khawaja failed and Handscombe scored some runs at Adelaide the exact same articles would be coming out with Khawaja's name instead of Handscombe's.

I’m just shocked that they waited till the 3rd test to get him back into the side.

The obsession with his plonker is mind boggling.

They are picking the XI tomorrow morning, Mail is MMarsh in for Handscomb. Smith a bit concerned deck not as hard as he would like.

Here's a little fun fact:

Last year in the 3rd test of our summer vs South Africa we brought in the future, Handscomb, Renshaw, Madinson and the great nugget Wade

If Handy gets booted here, we have gone full circle (ie 12 months) with those 4 all now out of the side (5 if you include the sole test played by Ferguson last year)

that's hellava little fun fact

I mentioned that in the 2nd Test thread.

Amazing isn't it. Sad too. I really thought Renshaw was the future. I guess the numpties they dropped back then have learnt their lesson.

It means we'll have the worst - in history - statistical #6, followed by a #7 who averages less than 30 in FC cricket.
