With all this talk about our backs and the uncertainty around positions, I thought i'd take a closer look at our imposing forward pack for 2018 -
8. Vaughan - Future NSW and Australian rep. Should have played for NSW in 2017.
9. McInnes - NSW next Hooker in my opinion. Offers more than Peats.
10. Graham - 44 time England representative, still in the top props in the game.
11. Frizell - Our best player. Will play for NSW and Australia for the next 5 years at least.
12. Sims/Host/Leilua - Any one of these guys will do an amazing job for us. Take your pick.
13. De Belin - Again, should have played for NSW in 2017. Has stepped his game up another level.
14. Ah Mau - One of the most underrated metre eaters in the comp
15. Sele - Fittler rates him as one of the best up and coming locks in the NRL.
16. Sims/Host/Leilua/Lawrie - Again... Take your pick.
That is a top 3 pack in the NRL without a shadow of a doubt. If I was Widdop and Hunt I would be salivating. Can't wait to see these blokes rip in this year. A few things however...
- Frizell HAS to play 80 minutes. We need our best player on the park for the whole game if possible. I couldn't stand those 15 minute bursts Mary had him playing in the middle playing at 100-miles and hour.. Such a waste. We need him on the edge running those lines off Hunt and chiming in in the middle when necessary. The left edge position is where we should be interchanging our second-rowers. Leave the right edge to Friz for 80.
- If Graham can stay on the park for 60-65 minutes that would be ideal. To have guys like Lawrie coming on with the experienced, passionate Graham still there would be great.
- McInnes needs a rest this year. His workload last year was intense and it was affecting his attacking game. Robson or Mann to come on to relieve him.
- Sele to come on and replace De Belin for the 15-20 minutes he's off the field.
- Leilua to come on as an impact player in the last 10 minutes of the half and continue on into the second half.
