Souths Till I Die

Don’t get the butthurt with Chricton leaving. Yeah it sucks, we made an offer and he declined to take a better offer. Bottom line is that he’s going. So rather than utilise him effectively for a full season, people would rather bench him or drop him out of spite. That’s f**king stupid. Doesn’t do much for team morale and shows poor leadership in terms of recruitment and retaining stars.

I understand the first part of what your saying but I don’t get the second part. Why should promising juniors who are going to be with Souths next year be stuck behind someone who has decided to follow the money? I don’t think starting Crichton is neccessarily good for team morale either. I respect Seibold and whatever he chooses to do but I would’ve thought a team that has already made it clear they’re looking to the future would do just that.

I want to reiterate that I don’t blame Angus for leaving. He doesn’t share the same passion for Souths like lifelong fans have. Following the money is the best thing for him. NRL careers are short and sweet so you may as well get the best out of it. It is a business though and Souths should be doing what they constantly tell their fans.

Promising juniors still need to play to potential. Once they do so and knock on the door they get their chance. That’s exactly what Chricton did. The fact he’s leaving doesn’t change the fact he’s earned his 1st grade position. Chricton not playing to potential and coasting cause he has signed elsewhere, would warrant blooding juniors at his expense. But for f**ks sake, he hasn’t even laced the boots up. Where was all the outcry when Isaac Luke announced his departure? Wasn’t hung on a cross like gus is
Yeah that’s not good. This kid is tough but f**k he seems to be pretty injury prone.
If he’s injury prone the realistically Souths have dodged a bullet. That oughta shut the haters up until they find another thing to bitch about

Some achilles injuries can be easily managed.

Some of the reactions to Crichton goes to show that some fans are just as fickle as the players, if not worse.
Would you prefer to lose because we're playing someone who isn't upto NRL standard or would you rather win and make the most of him while he is here?

Yeah I see what you’re saying. I think Souths supporters are quite emotional but I tend to agree with you once I remove the emotion. You always play your best team but I actually believe Crichton playing off the bench is best for the team. He’s not exactly a solid 80 minute player defensively so I’d be looking to use him as a massive impact player like Hess.

I mean it’s rubbing salt into the wounds that he went to the roosters of all teams as well. They were happy to trade him off for one of our best juniors in Nat Butcher and then take him back when he was fully developed. I think it’s just a real slap in the face for Souths.

But I’m definitely not angry at the club either. 800k for Crichton? Yeah nah.

I'll tell you what I see and wouldn't see.I wouldn't see Mr Coke investing his time and resources in an employee to make him a more highly skilled and a experienced employee knowing he was jumping ship to Mr Pepsi next year or Mr McDonald doing the same if an employee was moving to Mr Burger King.
What I do see is Mr Politis sitting back knowing that Mr Richardson and Co are investing South Sydney's resources in making Mr Crichton a more experienced and skilled player for his scum of a club next year and sitting back f**king laughing at us!
Mr Coke ain't trying to win an NRL title so the analogy just doesn't work for me .
He's a professional sportsman.
He will do his best for us. We should pick the best team regardless of what's going on and who's playing where next year.
We didn't drop Sam Burgess and we didn't drop Ben Teo or Apisi Korisau so why should we drop Crichton.

Big difference,Sam and Ben were not signing with another NRL club,so that didn't put our resources into a team that was opposed to us the next year.
As for Api,his decision was based on the fact he had Luke and McInnes ahead of him, nothing in common with Crichton!

I also think we were right in the running for the premiership that year. The year before we were knocked out by manly in the prelims. We were actually premiership threats. Right now we’re rebuilding.

Exactly STID,rebuilding in my business mind doesn't include investment on improving a product for another company to utilise the year after!
