How much has the Tamou and Merrin experience helped us? Experience means shit if you're playing like shit.

We need an experienced player that performs for us like Mez did in 2016. Not experienced players performing like fringe first graders.

of course but we will get some rookie barely legal to drink in their place. If it is like for like replacements I'd get rid of Merrin now but if it is for rookie then it is dumb

If I was to guess, they will both stay.

Merrin, Tamou, McKendry and Maloney all won't be at the club in 2020 to afford all these upgrades.

By then there job description (which was to mentor the youngins) would have been fullfilled. It wouldn't shock me to see merrin leave for 2019 if a great offer came up. He has struggled in the last couple of months of this year.

JFH is a great player. Hell should freeze over before James is allowed to leave.

I like him too. But are we really gonna let Merrin, Tamou and McKendry walk to re-sign JFH as Daz suggested?

I'd prefer to look at the market to see whats on offer in 2020.

Yes. Merrin, and Tamou, if the rumours are true, are on big money, and both have failed to deliver. McKendry has barely played a full season. Out with the old, in with the new.

Does he though? I don't see how we should be on the cap given the squad we have. The bottom 10 or so in the squad should be on minimum wage imo

I guess what I meant was he’s good at keeping things flexible.

He seems to be able to move on players he doesn’t want quite easily, allowing for him to re-sign others.

I’m not sure if I’m in the minority but I’m fine with the club losing some promising youngsters if it means we can bring in experience we need.

Our most experienced player in 2020 might well be a winger or a centre.

JFH is overrated by Panthers fans. He is not a bad player, but nothing special. A good squad filler, but if he starts asking for star money, he should be advised to shop around. We can't pay every junior what the value themselves at, otherwise we might as well just play an U23 squad in first grade because we won't be able to afford experience and/or genuine talent.

I agree with you given our top 13 looks set long term. Who cares if we lose a few 20 or 21yo's

Look at the halves for example in the squad.

Cleary
Maloney
Luai
May
Coleman
Keighran

The top 3 speak for themselves. May I guess as utility but Coleman and Keighran won't be FG halves here. Haven't played FG to even be great for Origin cover.

So players like that is where we could have older guys in the squad. Guys like the Blore's as development players etc.

I realize that I am in the minority in that regard. He hits hard, and he strikes fear into the opposition players. Why he is underrated by all the experts on here, I do not know.

JFH for the first 12 odd rounds of the year absolutely deserves that kind of priority. Guy was a machine, good with the ball and hitting like a truck without it. He fell off later in the year though.

He's a tough one to rate. He has a much higher upside than just a good squad filler and I'd be very cautious about just letting him walk, but he needs to show more for longer periods of the year if we're going to take the next step.

The majority of fans here are extremely hard task markers. I thought he had a great year.
