I’m pretty happy to see Ivan return, I wasn’t happy when he was sacked. I think he has what it takes to get this team firing.

I realise this will be an unpopular comment, but I’d really like us to sign Matt Lodge. He did make a massive dickhead of himself, but I think he deserves a second chance.

Most of all, he’s a freaking beast who is really keen to play for us. Personally, I think he’s the enforcer we need.

Imagine Lodge and Heatherington on the field together. Teams would fear us!

2013 missed the finals by one game, with a roster that included Moylan, the Limmo, Sauce, Mose Masoe and little else. The 8-6 loss in Newcastle it was that cost us. But we crumbled against good opposition at the business end, sort of like the Tigers this year.

People are looking back with Rose colour glasses I think. Though thinking back not too many agreed with me in the 'Is Ivan a dud thread

I guess we will see sooner than 2021 if he is upto it. Personality I see a lot of Neil Henry in him. Good with getting plenty of out of teams with not much.

We had an ordinary record when favourites under him. Tigers lost a few games they should of won under him too.

Time will tell I guess

To be expected, I think most on here will.

I'm probably in the minority then. I also think that Lodge would be a good acquisition.

The guy has proven this year that he has turned a corner in his life and is doing what he can to make good his actions (probably no need to go into a post frenzy about it - it has been done to death)

Keeping the idea to just his footy - he is a good prop with his best years ahead of him. Also would be a reasonable price.

Also - he actually wants to play for Penrith.

The other name I have heard bandied around (can't remember where though) is that Fifita is quietly being shopped around. He doesn't quite get on with Flanagan and co at the Sharks. Would be a great buy but at a cost (money and other)

Fifita would be a great buy at any cost.
I think he's very close to his use by date but there's no doubt he's been close to the most damaging forward in the game for a while now.

Lodge seems more a possibility. Gus has maintained a relationship with him but I'd have thought the Broncos would want to keep him. It's not like they're overendowed with young, mean forwards.

There is a big issue in re-hiring a coach we've sacked before I think we're all glossing over, what if Ivan Cleary isn't the right coach again this time around? How much time do we give him before we start thinking of sacking the guy again? He could very well get a lot more leniency in his second stint since the club will be very hesitant of mixing up things quickly.

Personally I think Ivan is a very good coach, he knows how to get the best out of his teams, I mean he got the Warriors of all teams to a Grand Final and he was 1 game away for us and our team that year had half the talent with all the injuries, he could probably get a lot more out of us now that we have a much better team.

As for Lodge no thanks, if you watch any Brisbane Games as soon as they've lost his inner f**kwit comes out, the last thing we need is another forward with discipline issues.

It's a NO to Lodge from me. Our whole squad is very likeable and marketable atm. We don't need the guy's baggage. The closest thing we have to a bad-boy is our hot headed winger/fullback, a mormon and devoted family man. A club's image is important.

A lot of us have been saying this all along but it appears to be a done deal now so we all have to live with it.

That is it. It's done now

Too me it seems like management thinks we should be going better then we are or atleast used that to justify the payout. Yet sign a coach unproven. Given Bennett, Maguire and Des are available all won premierships and yet not so much as an interview is concerning.

I guess we can hope it was done because they think he is the best coach for us and not to keep Nathan happy.

It is done - and probably sooner than we think (if the press is on the money)

We will know soon enough if this has been a monumental failure or a master-stroke.

At the very least we will be one of the more disliked teams in the comp (which would make a nice change), and our first game against the Tigers will be interesting.

Ivan yes, Matt Lodge, no. Anyway there are plenty of assumptions that Matt wants to play for us.

I don't see how he can stay if he did sign with us. Atleast it should be sorted by pre season

I can handle being hated if we win. If we a duds and hated then it is wasted.
