Is Norman really coming here to play off the bench? going on the field to replace a backrower or playing token half minutes while hunt moves to hooker for 10 minutes? Seems unlikely

After Widdop and Hunt he is the biggest signing the JV has made ...

Anyone thinking he should start from the bench and play Mann’s 14 minutes is as brain dead as our coach ..

Widdop or he plays fullback the other 58

Norman will most probably be the fullback with Widdop as the 5/8.

To start the year..why not?. Lets tinker while we can until he fits in and injuries start to strike. McInnes can get more of a rest than 10 minutes game time anyway so we are fresher back end. Origin stars get more rest around that 8 week period. Everyone's fresher back end. Aitken can cover back row if need
The only other way is if Dufty is used as an impact at No 14 and Norman to 1 but I dont like that idea.

I think your selling Widdop injury and him a bit short. Our 1st trial is not till 2nd March, that is plenty of time for contact work when they resume early January. I think and I hope he will play that trial
And really because he turns 30 next year there is going to be a big noticeable speed difference between 29 & 30.
But I do agree 30 is a ripe old age to get miles in the legs to handle the rigours of fullback fulltime for a season due to the amount of ground they cover a game. Widdop to fullback is just media paper talk guessing. I think it is a wrong move. Norman has got to provide that back roving commission role and start the season No 14.

2 noticeable deficiencies in Widdop's game is game management and in particular closing out a game. This is Norman's strength and would be the main reason the Dragons would improve on last year's performance.

And talking about game management if our super coach were to use the bench.the way its meant to be used then approximately 6 hours less fatigue to our forwards.maybe his maths needs improving.

There is no way I want Dufty and Field defending at center, but I get it, you want speed. Lomax has to be one center. I would rather Widdop center and Dufty fullback. I am keen to see Ravalawa. The reports sound promising.

I’m pretty sure we’ll see Rava, Pearson, Peirera, Field, Robson, Lawrie, Host, Masters, Ford, Kerr, Allgood and Timm all playing Charity Shield. We’ll see Norman and Field at FB and in the halves. Dufty at FB and Wing. Not sure if Korbin is allowed to play given his suspension.

And we’ll be none the wiser until Saturday night (16th March) in Townsville.

The main player I’d like to see on the field is JDB (if clear of court).

I just think that we have an opportunity to have Norman, Widdop, Hunt play together (who knows for how long) and we should be taking full advantage of that. If Norman was our backup, we would expect that he slot straight into the halves or fullback so why can't that just be the aim from the outset? There should be enough time before the season starts to build combinations. Dufty can still be an impact player/backup plan.

Thats only 1 deficiency...closing out a game is part of game management. Norman has more deficiencies in his game than Widdop. Goal kicking, defence cover so I reckon at worst that makes them about even.

Then if all this is a short term use then we must be a Top 4 team and play out in the GF this year otherwise a failure.
I dont think Dufty is a bench warmer so under your plan he will be in ISP. I dont want to lose a potential future long term fullback for a short term shot this year (which probably we wont get there anyway as we still have flank depth problems Position No.s 2-5) even still if they get that good winger or great utility 30th player before March.
Whats the point of building structure around those 3 when 1 is supposedly departing and if true (which I have never heard it is yet) his head may start to be on England as we progress through the year.
Regardless of what we say or think I know how McGregor will decide. He will ask his leadership group what they think and is best for the team including Norman. That is a coaches1st big error or problem which Mcgregor sounds guilty of...giving the players not some but...too much input

A number of representative players played whilst either injured or mentally fatigued because McGregor left the decision as to whether they played or not to the player.

This is mind boggling incompetence.

You cannot place the lunatics in charge of the asylum.

These decisions are ultimately Mary’s.

Think it’s about time he made key decisions himself.

When it comes to who plays in the spine in 2019, it’s Mary’s call.
