Well Blake Ferguson who is arguably the best winger in the comp is on 500k so you could argue DWZ being on the same money would be overs.

Holmes was also starting to become a very good fullback which is why he would have gotten around 800+
Yes, but Ferguson had well documented off field issues which reduces his negotiating power.

Holmes for 800 v DWZ (signed at the start of 2017 after 2 appearances for NZ) for 500 - I'm not sure "overs" is right.

Would make sense as too where cap went

So would paying ex Panthers at other clubs.
Reported last year we were contributing towards Merrin's new contract at Leeds.
Contributions for DWZ and Blake no doubt to come.
Are we still paying towards Moylan or was that a clean swap?
Latu was on a healthy deal did the Titans pick up the whole tab?
Carty too?
There could be others, been so many players that have left mid contract.

Good points. The whole thing is a mess

So not on June 30?

Either way. It's a waste of a spot IMO unless we have given someone Selse his development spot.

They haven’t wasted a spot Shawn Blore suffered a season ending ACL and the club has used that spot on a temporary basis for Brent Naden. They have now upgraded him into the top 30 and will no doubt fill the Shaun Blore vacant spot in the next couple of days.

What ever happens can this be the last time we have outside backs on rep half money? With our juniors there'll always be players like To'o to come in so we can direct money towards signing marquee halves or forwards.

I find it astonishing how some of you are so quick to make assumptions and draw conclusions about contracts and related matters.

It just seems everyone wants to believe the worst in this never ending quest to run down the club.

We are at time guilty of placing unrealistic expectations on our juniors coming thru but from what I understand we have potentially a dozen or more youngsters in our playing ranks who the club believes will graduate to the NRL and while we can’t keep them all at least some part of what is happening now is to ensure we are competitive in keeping the cream of the crop.

It suited our needs to offload DWZ who didn’t want to be here and Blake has had his issues too as recent as May when he was dropped for disciplinary reasons. They were both being paid decent money the exact figures none of us know and both arguably had reached there ceiling with us and just perhaps any money freed up may be better spent elsewhere.

The club is a shitfight and always has been for its whole history. Hopeless merkins top to bottom

It’s very simple. The cycle of players moving on before their contract finishes never ends.

In isolation I’m sure there’s good reasons for many of the players moving on, but as a whole is looks like bad roster management.

The club would’ve known for some time there were many prospective NRL level players coming through, so why then give a long deal to Blake?

Btw, this isn’t just an observation by panthers fans. Speak to other fans out there, people are completely puzzled how we constantly have players leave mid contract. Our club is now known for that, can’t be good for recruitment.

If they are as you say. Why then do you still support them ? (this is a genuine question, if you find something horrible, nasty and not worth it, why waste your emotional being invested in them as a team)

Thanks.

Sorry Mick, but this is just negative crap. Not even speculation, just letting fear run away with you and shitting on the club in the process. Kent/Hooper-like and very unlike your typical posts.

Or we are just finding out what some of us suspected and Gus is terrible at Cap management
