I find it astonishing how some of you are so quick to make assumptions and draw conclusions about contracts and related matters.
It just seems everyone wants to believe the worst in this never ending quest to run down the club.
We are at time guilty of placing unrealistic expectations on our juniors coming thru but from what I understand we have potentially a dozen or more youngsters in our playing ranks who the club believes will graduate to the NRL and while we can’t keep them all at least some part of what is happening now is to ensure we are competitive in keeping the cream of the crop.
It suited our needs to offload DWZ who didn’t want to be here and Blake has had his issues too as recent as May when he was dropped for disciplinary reasons. They were both being paid decent money the exact figures none of us know and both arguably had reached there ceiling with us and just perhaps any money freed up may be better spent elsewhere.
It’s very simple. The cycle of players moving on before their contract finishes never ends.
In isolation I’m sure there’s good reasons for many of the players moving on, but as a whole is looks like bad roster management.
The club would’ve known for some time there were many prospective NRL level players coming through, so why then give a long deal to Blake?
Btw, this isn’t just an observation by panthers fans. Speak to other fans out there, people are completely puzzled how we constantly have players leave mid contract. Our club is now known for that, can’t be good for recruitment.
