So how do we fix this opener problem? Probably not much we can do this tour, but I’d have to bring Joe Burns back in Australia.
If Warner/Bancroft/Harris/Khawaja can't cut it, and the selectors are reluctant to call up Renshaw or Burns, how about Labuschagne and Smith as openers?

Call me crazy but I think we need to open with a right hander, these left handers are at sea against Broad with the angle and his ability to nip it away

I know you've got your own thing against him but Burns is comfortably better than Harris and Bancroft. We haven't got the perfect option but he's deadset hard done by not to even be in the squad.

I know it won't happen, but in the 2nd innings, I'd love to see Labuschagne and Smith opening the batting, Head at #3, and Harris/Warner dropping down to the middle order (positions 4-6).

Harris/Warner/Khawaja/Bancroft are way too inconsistent as openers and can't continue putting the middle/lower order under pressure with low opening partnerships.

We need to get back to the days where we had a strong, reliable opening partnership like we used to with Hayden/Langer during 2001-07.

Looking to this upcoming summer, I'd love to see Patterson and Pucovski given a go in the middle order.
