We're all bemoaning the openers and the match situation but tbh this start has eclipsed our previous best of 2/60 fir the series according to what they were saying earlier so maybe we just need to readjust our expectations of the hacks at the top.
We were 2/136 before collapsing in the first innings last test

Looking at.that spin if we can take this game to the fourth innings and set 250+ Lyon might just do the job this time.
Gotta get there first
Well, Old Trafford has had a dry/abrasive surface for quite sometime, so making a good 1st innings score is going to be crucial for us in order to make the test last long enough for Lyon to have an impact. Having a left-arm fast bowling in Starc is also going to help Lyon with the foot marks. It's been a long time since a finger spinner has been able to get that amount of turn on a day 1 pitch outside of the Indian subcontinent.

However, weather could be a problem during the first 3 days, so there will definitely be time lost. How much time is another question.

Isn't this the bloke who happened to be bowling when Smiffy castled himself in Adelaide and he was going to be the GOAT?
