The question was what centres are worth $800k. If any were they'd be in Origin that was my point. If you pay that the player is going into the spine

Scored 19 tries this season, he’s on track to score 200 in his career. Plus he’s a goal kicker & field goal/drop kicks.

if any centre is worth 800k it’s him. Doesn’t matter he got dropped from origin.

Another thing you have to consider about Mitchell is that he’s playing in a stacked Roosters team, no doubt he’s a very talented player but he gets elevated by Kearys amazing passing game and is running down the most lethal edge in the comp.

Would he be the same player he is now at Penrith? I don’t think so personally, at least not as a centre.

In his rookie season he scored 14 tries, no Keary then. (Mitchell was 18yo)

Played plenty of 5/8th too this year has more weapons then he would have elsewhere

Disagree, but even if you’re right, he’s the centre we need the most. A try scorer.

Manu scored 8 tries this season, Mitchell scored 19. Latrell’s worst season for tries is 14.

We need strike.

We do but we are paying $1m for our halfback. Not sure we can afford to spend big dollars on a non spine player. Him at 6 or 1 yep but not centre

I’d like to see him try fullback again, but if worst came to worst you’re still going to get some value out of him at centre.

He can create his own tries, he’s not the sort that relies on a good pass.

In 2016-2018 (Under Hook) we had ciraldo as the attack coach. We all know how that went.

2019 was no different but we didn’t have the defensive structure Hook had and it showed.

A lot of Manly’s fortune this year, IMHO, is off the back of Barrett’s structure in attack with the polish of Hasler.

If we can produce the same here, we will be a threat, even with the players we have.

We could sign Latrell or anyone else for that matter but we need (Must) improve our distribution, line running structure and second phase. If not, we will gain nothing from the edges.

Look at the Raiders, Storm and Roosters. They all distribute ball early in the count to allow the outside backs to gain yardage. It’s not just about field position, it helps the forwards set their lines for the next play. We need to be smarter in this regard, otherwise it’s bottom four for us.

A centre is stuck on the one side of the field though and won't always get it every set. Most centres rarely get more then 20 touches a game. Alot of that is working it back after a kick return so I don't see the value in big money centres. For me mid range of $400-$500k at most

I know what you’re saying but I think with our side & lack of strike players, your game plan should pretty much revolve around him to a point. You’d give him license to roam anywhere.

It’d be interesting to see if he got himself More involved in a lesser team. At the roosters now, they have arguably the best player in the game in Tedesco, the best halves combo, Manu, Tupou etc, strike right across the park. He can sit back & coast because other players can pick up the slack & his lack of involvement almost goes unnoticed. With us, he’d have a lot more responsibility.

That is the issue with these young unproven guys like Latrell, Ponga etc can play great but follow it up with a month of shockers

Latrel in particular, the best game he played this season(probably of his career) where he absolutely tore someone apart was followed up by the most disinterested game you’ll ever see from an nrl player, he was filling in for keary at 6 and just kicked the ball every time he got it which wasn’t often.

He's a gun but the Roosters do not structure their attack around him. I accept that his strike rate is good but I highly doubt we'd structure our attack to take advantage of him in the same way.

Roosters have strike across the park. If its not Tupou, its mitchell or manu. They're more balanced than we will ever be and I'd be worried we wouldn't get the most out of him.

Very hard for opposition coaches to come up with plans to keep a FB out of the play. My preference would be play in the 1
