Just imagine the NRL suspending Manase Fainu now. Manly would probably be kicking themselves
I can only think that with what has happened at the club over the past 18 months, that either player managers or players themselves see Penrith as a club with cultural problems. With the departures of Moylan, Cartwright (both signalled as the future of the club), the indiscretions of May and Philips, the early departures of DWZ and RCG, the resignation of Gould and the circus that emanated from the coaching fiasco, has shed a dim light on the club. I cant see it as a club at the moment, that any high profile player would want to be associated with. Yes there are probably reasons that we are unaware of, that would have contributed to the big loss of players, but I'm sure that any potential big signings would rather err on the side of caution.
if anything besides the Prop area, Leadership signing is a must. We have no leaders at the club. Josh Reynolds type passion.
Yea True, but at least somone to tame the youth we have. Maloney's leadership was his strength hereWe will get older guys.. Just how good is the question. Burns was in the NSW Cup team of the year we had 6 in SOO u20's so not like there isn't a high ceiling even if we only get plodders

Underwhelming, is how I would describe our recruitment thus far.
Although I don't mind us having a bit of cash up our sleeves and a few free roster spots, I am a little disappointed we have to wait so late into the year to pick up further signings.
The days of thinking Penriths juniors are going to be the saviour of the club are well and truly a dream. It has happened twice in 52 years, wont be happening any time soon.Big signings rarely change clubs no matter how well the club is run. I think some people aimed to high. As is the case with most teams for us to be a force the young guys are key

Not just us but when has a team bought a premiership winning team? You can add a few pieces but most is all developed from within
Was it 8 or 9 juniors in the 2003. The club's biggest strengths is the junior development program and pathways. (ehanced with structures put in by Gould)
It's the envy of many others within the NRL.
In reality though, let’s face reality. Penrith is not and has never been one of the glamour clubs. We have never been a club that is challenging for the top 4 every season. Our location is probably the most undesirable of any of the Sydney clubs for players to move to. And not even Gould with his status and reputation in the game could attract marque signings, and his biggest external signings he had to pay way overs for.
So I don’t see the last 18 months having made a difference in our ability to attract big name signings.
