Man I cant even handle how badly they f**ked this up. He should've had clubs falling over themselves for him, instead anyone who has shown interest and met with him has eventually pulled out, that is not good at all.

As much as I’ve been critical of Nathan, the issue will really always be his pay to performance ratio. He’s a very consistent performer and I’ve never really seen him have bad games. The issue is wether he can play well enough to earn his high salary. Personally I have serious doubts, but even if he doesn’t reach that level it likely won’t mean he has to be dropped.


If things go really pear shaped though, and Ivan got the sack, well Nathan would probably follow him out the door anyway.

The pressure on the Cleary’s is going to be massive in 2020 & 2021, though.

If the team doesn’t perform, we haven’t seen anything yet as far as criticism goes. The media will eat them alive. Forget about people on this message board.

Ivan is really coaching for his career here. I doubt there’s another gig out there for him if he fails. Honestly think Ivan has put way too much pressure on Nathan by getting involved with his coaching before Nathan was really set as a top flight player.

Would you drop bloke who played #7 in back to back Origin series wins for NSW or the bloke who has been a reserve grader the past 4 seasons that Cleary has performed consistently in the NRL?

Ivan is his father. But if he drops Luai its the same decision any other coach would have made. If anyone gets dropped that is.
