I won't say who it is yet, it may not happen, but I know the reason why Souths have picked up the scent. And I think there is another club watching too. A few little dominoes are about to fall at other clubs.
Souths do have another option elsewhere other than here.
IF it happens I will share the reason.

My mail suggests its Tamou because he is unlikely to have his contract extended.

I don't know if Tamou will get an extension but this player Souths are sniffing around is not him.

Interesting because Tamou understandably wants to prolong his career and to date the club have apparently delayed entering into any meaningful discussions. He will be 32 after the end of this season so i guess you can understand the club wanting to see how this season unfolds for him.

I'll pitch Yeo or Fisher harris

Either in my opinion would be a huge loss.

The club is not great and keeping previous Cartwright medalists which in my opinion is a huge shame.

Personally speaking I would like to see him stay another year or two. I think he still offers a lot. The club now is a lot more cautious.

The whole merry go round thing so close to the season proper is a sorry mess in my opinion.

Not saying the draft is perfect but the way we do things in the NRL is unprofessional in comparison to the AFL.

The AFL had all there business and squads well and truly sorted before Xmas and here we are a month out from the season proper with players still changing clubs.

I don’t get it.

I agree. Overall he has been a pretty good signing and still has a year or two left in him.

Interesting thing about the Tamou story was when we first signed him he supposedly came on big money 500K - 600K a season. Three years down the track that figure balooned out to 800K a season. I think he came for around the 500K a season and that was probable fair so we have probably got decent value for money even if he didn’t quite reach the heights of his SOO & Kangaroo days.

I’d heard before Xmas he want’s to get something sorted either way sooner rather than later as he clearly wants to keep playing. Can’t blame him so I suspect given his age the club may not extend his contract.

I agree with Martie I think its Hetherington. Shame if it is. All reports he is training hard and off the piss.
There seemed to be red hot speculation last year whether he was going to the Raiders only to stay.
This late in the pre season you would assume its no one that would disrupt us. Assuming it happens.
Kaide Ellis maybe another probable.

Just speculation.
Most clubs usually wait until the last moment to fill the 30th spot.
Burton was promoted recently to the last spot in our top 30. A spot that doesn't have to be filled until June 30.
I wonder then if the club knew they would be moving someone on?

Why would Panthers want to weaken there squad to help another team?

Depends who it is.There is a few I would move on. Not this late in the pre season though.

I can think of several reasons without knowing who or why.
Get rid of a problem, create cap space, get rid of a deadbeat, create a space for a new signing in the backs, or create room to promote another junior who has been impressing in the pre season.

This is a good thing not bad. Clubs should be able to do as they like right up until round 1
