I think everyone missed Silver's very bad joke he said it's bloated because it has the name "Big" in it (i.e. "Big League Magazine"). This by dropping the "Big" from the title it will no longer be bloated as it will no longer be "Big" but just "League Magazine".

It is not a great joke, but people really missed the point of that post.

You mean those that are a little bit "too literal" missed it.

It was pretty f**king obvious to everyone else.

You're right... Nathan Cleary has been unfairly targeted for the following:
  • Driving a mercedes to training and 'getting swept up in the fast lane of big-city life'.
  • Being released and off-contract with manager shopping him to teams.
  • For being in an NRL commercial draped with a flag.
  • Being tired at first training session back - which every footballer has said they should be exhausted.
  • Being the only player named in a group of 4 who were tested for COVID-19
You're right. Poor little Nathan Cleary has definitely copped it after being caught out breaching social distance rules, and then caught lying about the extent.

Poor little Nathan.

All of that could be any big money player in the comp at various times. It is how the media is race has no part in it

In theory it is a good rule... whether it plays out like that is the question
There needs to be a consequence for doing it cynically on your own line - they’ve gotta grow a pair and start binning players for professional fouls more often in these situations, or somehow allow teams to still take the 2 if this type of penalty is conceded in your own 20.

It is biggest blight on the game for me. Slows it right down and stops the flow this rule hopefully helps that

Well...hopefully it means we hear less bullshit backchat from the players. Every breakdown in play is the same story over an over. 'BUT SIR!' just f**k off mate and play football.

Also an opportunity to stop inane commentary around refereeing decisions mid-game. At least a bit of it. They won't have a chance to stop and look.

Most ruck penalties are 50/50 calls anyway. All they do is waste upto a min or so for guys to get onside

Subjective rules suck. And you see it all the time. What is a penalty at the the 5th minute isn't in the 72nd.

Will be very interesting to see how this plays out and if some teams give away a lot more sets than others.

Not a fan of this change. Nor the stupid change of being able to set the scrum wherever you want. Scrum should take place at point of infringement. That's it.
