The meltdown over $BW going to the Roosters is an epic lol.

Even Jonathon Thurston is whinging about it.

Seriously? Thurston whinging because the Roosters are signing SBW for a short stint for $100k - $150k? Meanwhile his club signs Val Holmes for $900k/year to play on the wing. Roosters don't make those mistakes. If a player wants too much money, they pass. Let someone else pay overs.

Must be nice to just pick up Cronk, the Morris brothers and SBW and claim they're just in it for a few loose coins.

The same club that bribed Clinton Schifcofske with an end of year holiday after he lied in a judiciary meeting in order to help Brett Finch escape a ban and play in the finals series. He claimed that he intentionally contorted his body in a way that would make it seem as if Finch spear tackled him - as confirmed by Finch on the Matty Johns Podcast.

I wonder at the morality of Roosters fans (all 6 of them). It takes a certain type of person to support such a soulless, unscrupulous organisation.

And in 2005 Adrian Morley went to the judiciary to testify he felt no pressure on his neck despite basically losing consciousness from a Nathan Hindmarsh grapple tackle in order for him to be free to play origin.

it’s called not being a dog and leaving it on the field.

Have you ever played sport at all?

Apples and Oranges. Adrian Morley is an old school sort of guy and I don’t doubt that he had no hard feelings towards Hindmarsh, and wouldn’t want to see him miss an Origin game. Clinton Schifcofske and Brett Finch, on the other hand, are former teammates, had the same manager and Schifcofske benefited monetarily with a free holiday.

I don’t know what sports you play(ed), but I have never played in a competition where a rival club bribing a transgressed player would be considered acceptable.

This is an indefensible act from the Roosters, so stop embarrassing yourself with asinine arguments that only illustrate your lack of moral a compass and hypocrisy. I’m sure if Souths did this you would be up in arms. We all must condemn the wrongdoings of our clubs, as defending them only enables them further.

apples and oranges to compare one player lying to the judiciary to get a player off to another player lying to the judiciary to get a player off.

schifcofske is 1 year older than Morley btw, so I reckon they probably both came up under e same old school rules. He, finch, and Stuart are all Canberra men so it makes sense Clint was happy to help Finch out

You keep conveniently leaving out the part where the Roosters paid for his holiday. So yes, it is apples and oranges. The link between Scifcofske, Finch and Stuart only makes it more heinous. This wasn’t one professional helping another professional (not that it makes it okay either) as was likely the case with Morley and Hindmarsh - this was three mates using the resources of a morally corrupt club to game the system.

You need to stop being immature and own the fact that your club broke the rules.

Cronk was on $1 mil a year so not quite loose coins but it's funny when he was at the rooster his salary would be inflated as 'proof' roosters were over the cap but after he left people claim he was on a modest wage so it creates a narrative that the roosters shouldn't have cap space from his departure.
How many people honestly expected the Morris boys at 33-34 years of age to be playing at this level, they couldn't even get a 2 year deal from the bulldogs who have Montoya and Holland playing in those respective positions at the moment.

Yes. People seem to forget Schubert also played for the Western Suburbs Magpies and the Manly Sea Eagles.

Nobody has forgotten. His participation in any auditing of those clubs is just as suspect as his involvement with the Roosters - though let’s be honest the only club that comes close to them in terms of nefarious rumours is the Broncos. The fact that a former player was the salary cap auditor is a perfect example of how Mickey Mouse the NRL is.

You must be the only person that thinks the Morris brothers are on big money. And you are aware that Cronk is no longer contracted to the Roosters? Even when he was, he was on no more than a host of other halfbacks in the competition. The difference is that he was successful. Somehow players at successful clubs magically have their contract values increased in the eyes of the losing clubs' fans.

If you have any proof, take it to the NRL. If not, its just two ex-players trying out-bullshit each other for the sake of a good yarn. And one gullible Roosters hater desperate for anything to discredit a successful club.

I heard he was subsidising his meagre Rooster contract by driving the Bondi Junction bus route? Or something to that effect. Definitely driving buses somewhere.

NRL has never uncovered serious salary cap rorting without a whistle blower alerting them. Some clubs must run tight ships!

A firsthand account from somebody complicit in the crime isn’t evidence? Have you informed the Attorney-General of this new development? Paul Kent, who was on the podcast too (I presume you didn’t actually listen to the Finch’s story) immediately added to the story, which suggest that the story is not an unknown one. I find it telling that the Roosters haven’t pursued legal action.

Please, continue to defend a blatant act of cheating though. It only effects your reputation

I could not care less about it if I tried.

What rule is broken by a supposed paid holiday btw? You don’t reckon Clint might have been just gilding the lily making light of the situation on the Marty johns podcast?

do you reckon The broncos were in the wrong to get Auden Guerra in to testify he spear tackled himself to allow Hodges to play in the 2015 GF?

players do that shit all the time at the judiciary. It’s why eye gouging and biting used to go unpunished for so long as players would just refuse to rat on fellow players.

stop getting your panties in a twist

Following bits are taken from this article - https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/07/23/roosters-set-to-open-roster-spot-for-potential-sbw-return/

  • The Roosters have opened a roster spot that Williams could fill with uncapped outside back Asu Kepaoa set to join Wests Tigers on a mid-season transfer. No official comment has been made by either the Wests Tigers or Roosters, but it is understood Kepaoa will link with the joint-venture over the weekend.
  • However, the most significant hurdle to his return is a rule precluding players from holding simultaneous contracts with an NRL club and a team in another sporting competition. Under NRL rules, Williams would be required to terminate his two-year $10 million contract with the Wolfpack before signing another deal with the Roosters or any other club for that matter.
You can read the rest of the article if you want, but those are the key points.
SBW's good at getting kids kicked out to get him a spot. Tohu Harris missed the 2013 RLWC thanks to SBW changing his mind and wanting in on the squad.
