Heads up!!

F**k we did an all mighty job tonight, against the storm and 3 more! Honestly I’ll call a spade a spade and say the ref was a joke!! Also taking both wingers away we were shot, but we held in and never gave up!!
For those BA bashers surely that gives you hope???
I can’t be more proud.
And on a person note (which is why I’m so passionate about parra), I know my Pa would be looking down proud right now.

Totally agree. I've got two brothers and a father who would have been proud too.

If we could get Ado Carr to play fullback, move Gutho to 6 and DBrown 7. Moses offloaded. Would anyone be against that?

Well, Gutho doesn't have enough 'footy intelligence' to play 6. Put him at centre, get another 6, and I like the idea. But then, even though Gutho isn't an elite fullback, he sure offers a lot from the fullback spot. Would Addo-Carr be a great fullback? I think he would. Would it be a good trade-off to put Gutho at centre? Well, somewhat of a gamble, but overall I think it would improve the team. We still need a five-eight. Would Gutho spit the dummy about not playing fullback? Maybe.

Centre isn't such an important attacking position so it's not a big deal putting your worst attacker there. They're mostly running decoys and making the odd hit up on that side. But centre is a very important defensive position and Dylan Brown was defending there. Davey actually caused a lot of problems defending three in, and Will Smith made much better decisions defending there later in the game.

That's true, mate.

I was actually more concerned about Davey defending at centre, marking up against a specialist centre.

But like you said, he ended up defending at second-row.

Not bad.

Personally, if we were looking to move Moses on, and switch Gutho to 5/8 (and I'm not saying we should), I'd like us to bring Bevan French home, and give him the fullback spot.

He would also be a lot cheaper than Addo-Carr.

No.

Gutho - manly
Sivo Penrith
Jennings - roosters
Waqa - penriff
Fergo roosters
Brown ba
Moses wests
Rcg Penrith
Mahoney ba
Paulo - ricky
Matto - roosters
Lane - manly
Brown souths

Smith Penrith
Nikure ba
Evan's roosters
Taka roosters

So ba has 3 regular first graders to his name in 8 years @ parra with the majority being ready made players, or players recognized by other clubs first.

I can't think of another club which has had to rely on as many imports especially with a good Junior base as we have. Its not a great stat for ba

Fair enough.

But he would cost us a lot less, allowing us to upgrade other outside back positions.

Yes, but you'd want him to play fullback, right? He'd be cheaper than Addo-Carr because Addo-Carr is a S.O.O. player who is in another stratosphere to Bevan French as a player (IMO). Addo-Carr is lightning fast, but he's also smart and tough. Does Guth want to relinquish his fullback spot? Would he really be a good option at six? I dunno.

Gutherson is one of the smartest players in the comp. In a footy context anyway. He's obviously no rocket surgeon.

Storm do and get away with dodgy shit because the NRL lets them. Same with Roosters and Canberra. It is sports entertainment these days so integrity gets lip service. HQ is happy for us to do well, but not too well.

Paul Kent talked glowingly of our game last night and how we pushed the benchmark team to the limit. He said that last night we regained our early season form.

He even had a massive spray against Storm when the game was stopped bc Vunavalu (sp) went down with cramp and stiffled our momentum. He implied that they are cheats and the rule needs to be changed like it was before. Move him aside and get on with it.

Yep, I heard all that.
I'm garnering a lot more respect for Kent these days, particularly his gigs on MMM.
He seems far more reasoned and balanced on radio and is actually very interesting to listen to. He also has quite a dry sense of humor.
He's been particularly honest about Parra's fortunes of late, both good and bad, and I've found that there hasn't been much, if anything, I could disagree with him about.

He also rates BA highly, which many here would find difficult to swallow.

Addo-Carr hasn't really played fullback, though - French has.

I'm not comparing them as players - Addo-Carr is streets ahead.

But French is probably just as quick, and I'd argue he is more skilful, too.

And because he would cost less, we could splurge, and upgrade another position; by signing Addo-Carr, we may not be able to further bolster the squad.

Paulo was playing First Grade under Arthur, left to play for Canberra, then came back.

Ryan Matterson was at the club when Arthur was coaching, but he saw himself as a 5/8, and Arthur saw him as a forward, so he left.

But I agree - we need to do better with our juniors.

I have never minded Kent.

He more often than not, imo, has a valid point to make.

The probably is French shy’s away from collisions. He’ll never win a contested bomb, and won’t take the hard runs like Gutho does in the middle when our forwards are blowing.

he also doesn’t have the size to pose a physical last man like Gutho does.

True.

But people are championing us to sign Addo-Carr, who wants to play fullback.

Wikipedia lists them as:

Josh Addo-Carr 183cm, 88kg

Bevan French 181cm, 86kg

I know it's only Wikipedia - but in terms of size, they are pretty similar.

Addo-Carr is effective because he charges into the line at full speed; French has more agility, and finesse, imo.
