wait what? Jack was one of our best in pre season, that requires resilience. His issue is his aggression and trying too hard to make an impact with every single little play.

Jack has spent more time on the sideline either injured or in the naughty corner than what he has playing.

In my opinion he lacks reslience to diligently work on his aggression issues. I've noticed this over a number of years.

He has issues, big ones, that won't be solved by moving clubs. His cards are now marked by the officials in the game too..

Don't think it's smart paying so much for a centre.

Weird keeping Burton on as a centre for 12 months unless they think they can keep him.

I think they’re trying to say to him to hold off signing, see how he likes centre. My idea would be to throw in backup fullback as another option. If he feels like the Panthers won’t release him for 2021, it does make some sense to hold off signing elsewhere. My feeling is his value only goes up playing footy.

The club should be reminding players that they'll be next to the origin halves which increases chances of rep selection as well.

Excellent point.

It's why Roosters, Storm, Broncos were known for getting players cheap. More finals and rep footy = More money in terms of match payments and sponsorships (TPAs). Long term profit is better compared to one good contract in the short term at the first club that needs players.

If we are looking at a cheap option in the outside backs what about James Roberts. The Tiggers are only looking at signing him on a minimum contract. We all know his off field issues but one year on minimum contract looks like a fair risk with a big upside if he can get his act together.

James Roberts appears to have some serious mental health issues. Football should be secondary to this.

We keep having these conversations about players on minimum contracts.

Players previously on 500K don’t sign for the minimum. It doesn’t happen, never will.

Even Bryce who is signing with the Eels is reported to be given a deal worth $350K. Huge step down from what he was earning but far from minimum.

Anyone who thinks we have acquired Robert Jennings and Matt Eusinhuth on minimum deals is living in Disneyland the greatest place on earth granted but not in NRL land.

James Roberts is largely finished as an NRL player but if you think he is gonna sign for the minimum $100k you are hugely mistaken. He could have just dug his heels in and spent 2021 in rehab earning $500K.

We will have five or so players in on the minimum wage and probably we won’t even have heard of them unti our squad is finalised.

Ivan should give them this one. He owes them and he can use it to leverage Burton with the fullback position.
He doesn't owe Tigers shit.

He was happy to finish his contract with them. They chose this path as they didn't want a coach who had committed to another club.

If they want him now we should work out a swap deal like Storm had. Get something out of it. Even if we dont need it.

He wasn't going to stay. He had secret talks with panthers board then ditched them with Packer and Reynolds.

Mate you're living in Disneyland.

It doesn't matter what players previously earned or think they're worth. What matters is what clubs think they're worth. If no one is willing to pay them what they want... they get a real job or accept the reality that they're not worth as much as they think they are

Unwanted fringe first graders do not get to demand big money. Where the f**k did you pull the $350k figure from for Carty? Its being reported he signed a $130k deal. Which is above minimum wage but not by much.

Sbw just signed a short term deal with Roosters for $150k coming off a $5m a season deal. NRL wouldn't accept a smaller deal.

You then have even dodgier cases like Benji Marshall and Korbin Sims at Broncos.

Benji rejected a $300k deal. Later realised no one thought he was more and signed on for minimum wage at Broncos.

Korbin Sims had s $400k contract at Knights. Requested a release to join Broncos on minimum wage.

Now i don't believe they didnt get fixed up somehow. But there are plenty of cases where guys accepted minimum wage after earning more. If they don't then that's the end of their career.

If i were in charge i wouldn't release anyone early to Tigers. Make them wait.

It just doesn’t happen in NRL reality. Clearly we are desperately trying to free up cap space, not quite sure why, given everyone who has left already but if the kid Laurie has signed for 2022 we just need to suck it up and let him go. Pointless keeping him for next season.

I’m just astonished we have found ourselves in this whole world of hurt given we seemed to believe the new brains trust were the be all and end all post Gus Gould.

As every day passes and the rumours get worse I’m not so sure the new dawn is what we believed to be.

if we have anymore big outgoings I think serious questions need to be asked.

Benji and Sims at the Broncos come on that is ancient history.

The Bryce deal has been reported on Foxsports this afternoon. According to the report $350K that is there assertion not mine and I acknowledge they wouldn’t know shit probably just plucking figures our of there arse I know.

My apologies it was not fox sports but the daily telegraph.

Rubbish, Ivan owes tigers fk all.

Your off your head=
benji, reynolds, mbye, packer, matalino, etc were all ivans and the tigers selections commitees picks, its what they could afford and no one complained UNTIL Ivan wanted to coach nate here in 2022 onwards.

They got the shits, but they signed off getting those players to the club, which all were doing great, and playing well under ivan, beating quality sides, reynolds was injured for a chunk of the season, but had heart every game he played. Ivan was the pinata, after they thought they could sway nate to join their basketcase club, guess the panthers had a better plan to keep everyone happy. Suck shit tho. Tigers think they could poach nate, just coz his dads working there. Plus kicking stones after accepting a future contract which wouldn't have affected the tigers..
Seriously whos poaching the best tigers top17? Their best player this year by far was benji, and they dont want him, with matterson last year, anf Aloiai just this week. Fk em

They wanted him gone once he signed with us. They wanted compensation from him for a release and they wanted a new coach signed before releasing him.

They got everything they wanted. Cant blame the cap entirely on him. It's f**king stupid to give a coach free reign of the cap... And they're a club that has to pay overs to guys who aren't really in huge demand to sign anyone.

The best players use them as leverage for better deals elsewhere. The better value players want out the second they're worth more than they signed for and the proven first graders wont go their for anything less then massive overs.

Ivan didnt do them any favours cap wise. But the cap was f**ked before he arrived and is still being f**ked now. That club is a joke.

Ivan shouldn't have signed with us so far in advance. Obviously. We also shouldn't have approached him. But we were prepared to wait for him and he was prepared to see out his contract. The real loser in all that was Gus.
