I look at a footy team like race car and driver. The spine is the driver, obviously hugely important. The forwards are the engine and the brakes, again obviously very important. The outside backs are like the tyres, they can definitely make a difference but if the driver is a moron and the engine is f**ked then the tyres ain’t changing anything but a great driver with a great engine can probably be very good on any tyres. And that’ll do me for the day.

Totally agree.

If the Dogs have signed Burton, as is being reported, it seems doubtful they can sign Crichton. But someone else probably would,

It’s not reported. Both the Panthers and Dogs have confirmed it.

Re the Dogs cap space, basically 75% of their squad is off contract at the end of next year.

800k?!

I’ll personally drive him to Belmore if he’s demanding that.

I’d be surprised, though. I reckon 600-650k will keep him, even that’s overs.
And $620.000 is far to much for a player that's had a few games We have created a monster with our juniors and we should NEVER let players dictate paying this sort of money Chriton had a handshake deal How can he stay here. Other players will remind him when things turn to shit and will have cost us another player we wanted to keep LET HIM GO

The management can’t let him go. Crichton controls the terms now.

They must’ve been offering around 300 to Burton so you could at least half of that to Critta if that’s what it takes and still have plenty leftover to promote a young half in 2022.

The hand shake deal is unfortunate but what could we really do? Go to him and say something like “we don’t really trust you will stick to your word so please sign now or we will pull it” lol pretty sure he turns around and tells us to get f**ked.

1st year of the new guys in charge. Minor Premiership and GF... That is a mistake?

15 of the 17 that played in the GF will run around next year...A mistake?

24 out of 30 players still in the squad...Again is a mistake?

Your right after careful consideration I now realise we have done a great job and are givens to win the GF in 2021. Can’t believe how I could haveveven thought otherwise.

Pretty much this. You can't hold a gun to their heads & force them to sign. By the sounds of things even if he did sign his new manager would be agitating for more anyway & causing unrest which is probably worse than the situation now.

This is one of the things we did well under Gus, no public contract discussion until deals were signed, sealed & delivered.

I know I made this point before, but that’s easier to do if you’re offering the long term deals Gus did. People love security, especially in sports.

Yep I just can’t be critical about Critta or Burton. We’ve been good to Critta and it’s going to take a huge offer to pry him from our hands. Burton came through at a time with two very good halves in front him who take us to the gf. He also came through in the same group as Critta, Spencer and Staines and all four of them have looked like young superstars in their chances. It’s a very difficult situation, if we blow our cap out to keep them we are saying goodbye to Kiks and fish and probably others in twelve months.

Well care to say how we have made mistakes? 24/27 guys that finished the season with us will comeback. On the back of the GF. We are re-signing more guys then we lose... just don't see the issues

There was no problem when we extended Martin who at this point will only miss rep footy if he is incredibly unlucky or Staines or could be anything but two guys who are no doubt great talents in particular Burton but realistically further away from starting leave and suddenly there’s a problem.

100% we should be so proud of our retention. I realise how mistaken I have been Tamou, Jed, Ellis, both Blores, Aekins, Jack, Laurie and today Burton. Sorry I may have missed someone. Doubts around Mansour, Crichton and Lenui. But no all is good, you’ve convinced me, we’ve done a great job. I’m comfortable now putting the big bucks on us to win the GF in 2021. How could I be so wrong, but it is just my opinion I guess.

Only one of those makes our top 17 though. Maybe 2 if you're feeling very generous to Jack.

We definitely need a first grade prop now, maybe a centre and back up half. I understand some criticism of specific issues but it's hardly doom and gloom.

We've had disagreements in the past but until now I've never questioned your sanity but wow
