I think we'll all have to accept the fact that Norman will most likely earn a contract extension. This maybe for 1yr at a greatly reduced rate around 300k.

This would add in around 400 -450k into the cap pot for next year, to which prioritising Bud for a nice portion of that.

Some smart posters on JA suggest that Norman (if re-signed for next year) would take on the same roll as Benji at Souths and thats not a bad idea tbh.

Saints should not reward a lazy player like Norman with a contract extension; it sends the wrong message to the rest of our squad.

Sullivan would have Hunt and Bird to support him in his early days as our five-eighth. We don't need and hopefully don't want Norman.

So as it stands (and all rumoured until confirmed):

Burns swap with Blacker seems done.

Maguire deal on ice until at least after the DeBelin trial.

Fifita deal looking likely soon.

Clune to Cows won't happen. Cows interested in signing Dearden immediately (they already post-marked him for 2022 anyway). Reynolds also in stand-off with Rabbits. So no 'swap deal' involving Maguire and Clune.

Brittain most likely played his last game of football. We are looking at a utility forward/hooker as a replacement.

Maybe some extension of contracts are in the pipeline.

As I say, just rumours or quashed rumours until confirmed by the club or clubs.

Spot on @Dragonslayer . Things moving fast.......best if people just wait for the club to make names official....Like a chess game at the moment...things can change quickly.

St George Illawarra have confirmed the signing of Penrith Panthers back-rower Billy Burns until at least the end of the 2022 NRL Telstra Premiership season.

The Parkes Spacemen junior's signature follows the Dragons release of front-rower Eddie Blacker from the remainder of his contract. Blacker will replace Burns at the foot of the mountains.

The 22-year-old Burns has played 12 first grade games to date, and will join Andrew McCullough, Daniel Alvaro, Jack Bird and Poasa Faamausili as 2021 Dragons recruits.

"Billy has cut his teeth in the NRL at Penrith and his signing will allow for greater balance with regards to our squad depth," Dragons general manager of football Ben Haran said.

"Eddie's release will provide him with a great opportunity to press his claims in the Panthers' system.

"It's also important to note that we remain active in the player market for an experienced middle."

Blacker joined St George Illawarra from the Broncos in 2019 and played one NRL game.

The Dragons would like to thank Eddie for his contribution at the Red V and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Official then. Is the changeover between Burns and Blacker immediate?

Next cab has Fifita in the passenger seat. Let's hope this one is done by this weekend.

I wonder if Griffin has enough cap to recruit McGuire and sign De Belin. If so he should move on McGuire asap. Or maybe Saints are waiting for theCowboys to pay a little more of his salary so that he will be an economicl buy for the remainder of this season.

Listening to the redvpodcast, they were saying Fafita deal most likely off.
