There was plenty at the time. 2 years ago.

Keary and Mata'utia have had at least 5 each. Keary in a shorter and more recent window. Keary didn't play a lot this year.

You're a mug if you don't think its a problem.

Friend has had a few as well.

One problem, he only missed 2 games this year and that was due to a broken rib.

He hasn't had a concussion for 18 months. That is a cold hard fact.

I met him in the head bin at ICU
Where you miscount fingers
And they diagnose your disorder
D-d-d-disorder

He staggered down the hall and forgot his name
So the doc grabbed his chart and in a too-loud voice
Shouted "Cordner!
Your name is Boyd Cordner!
No, no it's BOYD COOOORRDNEERR!"

Well I'm not the world's most together guy
But when I looked in his eyes I saw vacant skies
Oh poor Cordner
C-c-c-Cordner

Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
How a head full of custard is good for a man
Like Cordner
C-c-c-Cordner

He pushed me away
He lurched to the door
He fell to the floor
Rabs said "he looks gone!"
The trainer gave thumbs-up and it was play-on

Ooh, you big dopey one, you dopey one
When you gonna make it to fulltime, Cordner
Ooh, you can't make any runs, any runs
Struggling coming off o' the line, Cordner

Never gonna stop, getting whacked, such a scrambled mind
Always get on up, drop the ball, head to the sideline
Boy oi oi oi, whoa!
B-b-b Boyd Cordner

Come a little closer, doc, a-will ya, huh?
Close enough to look in his eyes, Cordner
Keeping it a mystery, to count to three
Walking down the length of the tunnel Cordner

Never gonna stop, getting whacked, such a scrambled mind
Always get on up, drop the ball, head to the sideline
Boy oi oi oi, whoa!
B-b-b Boyd Cordner

When you gonna give it up, you got 3 cups,
Is it just a matter of time, Cordner?
Is it d-d-destiny, d-destiny
Or is it just a game in your mind, Cordner

Never gonna stop, getting whacked, such a scrambled mind
Always get on up, drop the ball, head to the sideline
Boy oi oi oi, whoa!
B-b-b Boyd Cordner

In fact there is some suspicion it has caused more than prevented as many tacklers in the NFL lead with the head thus causing the helmet to initiate contact sometimes directly "helmet to helmet" with the opposing player.
I’m no doctor or scientist, but from my time playing the game, I genuinely believe removing the shoulder charge has had a negative impact on concussions.
When defending, players are not allowed to ‘dip’ and lead with their shoulder for the initial contact - they have to wrap their arms, which means their head is not protected for if they get their timing or aim slightly wrong - so not only does the head take impact, the attackers momentum and speed has not been slowed down at all, so their head gets full pace collision.
In attack, because defenders are having to wrap their arms, players are using a swinging motion with their arms to create force (which is needed given the attacker is at full pace), again, the defender only has to make a slight error of judgement and that swinging arm collects the attackers melon. I also think the attackers are leaving their chin open and not protecting their heads as much nowadays because they know there’s no shoulder charge coming their way, so they don’t have to brace or put up the bumper bars for a ‘what if’ collision.
The removal of the shoulder charge has shifted the balance in favour of the runner, meaning they can run harder and faster into collision, and the defender is more prone - it’s an unattractive balance and I believe the concussions are very much an unintended consequence of this.
There’s a difference between a legitimate shoulder led contact (even with a cocked arm) and the blindside/head high shoulder charges that I believe they were trying to eradicate. There is an option to keep the legitimate ‘safer’ shoulder charges, whilst heavily punishing and as such eradicating the dangerous illegal ones.

He should retire.

Great career to date but football alone isn’t worth it.

Id be fine with a medical retirement.

You would think so.

I smell a medical retirement which I think few would argue against being warranted and legitimate.
"warranted and legitimate"
Why does the cynic in me thinks that slogan is pre-printed on the Roosters brown paper money bags ?
But as for Boyd, yeah, he should quit while he is ahead.

What happened? Did a butterfly land on his head over Christmas?

Time to call it a day, he has a lot of life left to live, not worth risking it for a few more games.
