Steady on with the angry pills merkin. I’ve had this theory for ages. I reckon that Lane gets in his way. Simples.
I never said that Lane is crap, in fact he’s in career best form.
Matto gave him the space he needed today.
You have it all wrong. Brown has and will always have plenty of space to run at. He, up until the backend of last season, didn't choose or know how to use it. If you look back at my posts you will see that I kept saying that he needs to learn how to run
DEEP into the space an commit the defenders before releasing the ball and or dummy and go.
He was bordering on shocking at this simple but essential technique that all good playmakers should be able to execute effectively. He would either catch and almost instantly pass to his outside men when space and opportunity was presented because he, would assume wrongly thought, that he needed to get early ball to the players outside him without committing the defenders to him first, or he would run all the way himself without a hint of an intended pass and get tackled without passing the ball at all. In other words his body language and decision making was all wrong and it was driving me freakin crazy. You need to be able to sell a deception as a playmaker more then anyone else on the field.
But then suddenly last season, the last 5 games of the season proper or so, he started to take the space and offloading once the defenses were committed, at least occasionally. So I saw that he was finally getting it. I was very hopeful for this season that he would have progressed even further and yes, thank fu*k he sure has. He is now scaring the bejesus out of the defensive line because he is holding them up and then pulling the trigger with a pass or if the opportunity is there using his step, speed and power to go through himself.
It is early days still and he needs to do this for the entire game as opposed to the moments of brilliance we have seen so far then drop off a little. But I have no doubt now that he will only get better and better as he gets more and more experience and maturity. He will be the best all round 5/8th in the comp by the end of 2023 at the latest. Hell he isn't far off it now. Unfortunately for us he will then command that $800K-$1m price tag. This is why I am hoping that the Dolphins get Munster and that way they won't jump in with a massive offer for Dylan. Otherwise I don't think that there is another top 4-8 team that would be able to fit him in that he would want to play for. We need to make him a priority before any of our competitors get a chance to table an offer or anything can happen. He isn't going to get worse, only better and every club that can fit him in will start to drool with large number rolling around in their eyes.
