gunna be around 6C at kickoff on Sunday in Canberra with a feels like of around 1C
we will still pull a decent crowd despite this , but holy shit we need an indoor venue asap.

Last Sunday was sunny but bitterly cold , it was nasty
that 16K who braved the Siberian conditions would have been 20K in an indoors venue & this Sundays 12K , would be 15k

Canberra is the national capital & it deserves a sporting venue befitting its status

Tell that to the Milson Pt appartment owners who bought next to Luna Park

Precident has been set
Your correct

any new development of shark park would have to look at view loss of the units especially since they have water views

there’s actually a pretty important court case whic la determined this principle

Just going through my wardrobe trying on some thick flannelette shirts which i haven't worn for years as i don't think the football jersey and leather jacket are going to cut it this Sunday for the football in Canberra. Please just don't rain even though i know its been forecast for Sunday.

Not that they had much choice as they were broke but the development has seriously compromised shark park ever being a decent mid sized stadium.

Hindsight but they probably should’ve sold the whole lot then built a new stadium near one of the train stations.

the main stand has zero cover and only like 2k seats as it’s literally one side of the leagues club

being on the water that land is wasted for a stadium.

and it’s hard to do the family hill because of the power lines running through it (that’s what I heard)

I know it looks crap but I really enjoyed my visits there. Cronulla beach has loads of great restaurants and northies and they are minutes drive from the ground

That $500mil wouldn't just be for an extra 3k at a single game though...

It's be for 2-5k extra at any event in winter, not just Raiders games, and even more than that 2-5k at wet events. It'd also be used to build a venue that is actually capable of hosting larger events such as big finals, internationals and rep games, and shows too large for an arena. If done right it could last the city for the next 50 years, give or take, as well.

All of which easily justifies the expense, especially when considering the circumstances and the amounts of money that is wasted on stadia in other cities around the country.

Yeah, good luck with that with your fumbler-loving government. They already have RL and onion teams with no option to play elsewhere, why would they spend money on them when they can spend to attract the afLOLs to town?

As many have said now the territory govt won't fund it because they cant having committed billions to the next phases of the light rail ( should never have been built at all but thats another discussion )
So it needs to get the federal govt to build it & idk , pay it off over the next 20 years or so. Something needs to happen , & now. But the election of Albanese with Gallagher ( big Raiders fan ) as the finance minister makes it a much better chance of happening.
