It looks like we're headed into yet another season of our roster getting worse instead of better. Brilliant.
It really is this.

Our spine is a major concern heading into next year.

I’d be willing to bet Ponga moves to 6 next year.

Even then what we have around him is concerning.

I'd love to see something more recent than almost 10 years ago, and that wasn't focused on ~17 year olds.
8 years ago, not 10

Plenty more where these came from within these links are reference links to other studies. Go ya hardest.

2018 - "As many as 25% of athletes suffer a repeated ACL tear and up to 55% of those who suffer an initial tear never return to their previous level of play "

https://www.sportsinjurybulletin.com/repeat-offender-torn-anterior-cruciate-ligament-acl/

2020 - Despite ongoing research and advancements in treatment regimens for ACL injuries over the past decades, the goal of restored knee function and preserved long-term knee-related health remains a challenge. Re-injury rates are high,

final assessment should be withheld until 2 years postoperatively since a substantial number of outcomes require that this time has been given for the ACL reconstruction to completely heal

Thats all well and good, its common sense to say that when someone suffers an injury they are more likely to reinjure again

However, thats not a reason to write off a players career nor is it a reason to expect them to return sub par. There are plenty of examples of current 1st graders who have suffered multiple ACL (or equal severity injuries) who have returned and played multiple seasons relatively injury free.

All it highlights is our backup options were sub par and that 100% needs to be addressed

The number of players leaving this year, being dropped etc can’t be coincidental. It seems like our coach is wearing thin. Are the players really that bad or just too scared to play what they think is right in case the coach drops them? I thought the style we played in round 1 against the Roosters had a bit of fluency to it we had not seen the prior two years. The kick chase, line speed etc. we’re excellent. O’Brien based his game on defence first. That is all well and good but there has to be attack through defence too. The top 4 teams get this. You can’t just go set for set and hope the dam holds.
I am of the view That rumoured blow up between Joey and O’Brien was legit. Someone got insecure cos a certain genius showed the team how to attack.

It’s disgraceful that there isn’t a single position in this whole club outside the front-row where we can say we have a junior capable of being a backup for first-grade.
Agreed, our juniors had been shot for years and are only just now showing green shoots after an over haul back in 2018

I think in 2024 we will have a crop of juniors that will yield some first graders though

Until then its going to be what we have now or what we can import

Latest I saw was he's likely turning down the Tigers to stay with Penrith and wait for the right opportunity/club. With Cleary's health issues he's probably a big chance to take over Penrith in the next couple of years, but it could be viewed as a link to us if you want it to be.
