Which is the amount NSW has paid from 2019 anyway

exactly.

and if when the current agreement runs out someone offers $20m, NSW could again offer $20m + $1.

no need to be handing out pointless stadium upgrades.

maybe PVL should demand the QLD government upgrade Leichhardt oval in order to host the GF?

Baselinepanther is a moron, but it’s not necessarily a question of either or. That’s a false dichotomy.

It’s unbelievable that PVL was stupid enough to fall into the trap of allowing the government to frame the discussion that way.
but but the handshake deal with a career politician ! I mean I'm shocked it fell over, normally you can take that shit to the bank

I'm not desperate , there are far bigger factors at play here , shady politicians feathering their own nests agendas & other sports at the expense of the tax payer already

Govts build stadiums in this country , no one else
tax or rate payers have built every sports venue in the land , sports fans are tax payers too so thats perfectly justifiable
stadiums generate income for govts & communities & pay for themselves eventually so enough of your bleating & go build a dam wall or something
Politicians have always been shady and about keeping their jobs, as predictable as nsw floods!

govts will build one or two Stadiums, not 7 or 8! There is nothing stopping clubs or the nrl building their own infrastructure, many sports do in other countries.

hopefully penrith still happens, at least that’s one more team playing in a venue fit for a top tier sport.

kids will just have to deal with their obesity problem some other way than going to an upgraded dump And eating chips lol

they are claiming QLD will pay $10m to host it.

so ergo NSW could offer $10m + $1 and they would have the better bid, No billion dollars of suburban grounds required
OMFG
this moronic shit again

they could offer 20 mill & the NRL could STILL give it to QLD

they don't answer to Dom Parrotturd 😎

The old adage: dont fight battles you will never win, springs to mind. Vlandys has now painted them in a corner to which they can’t move out of, which means no good outcomes for the game. And even worse he’s now made an enemy of the nsw liberal party for the game and those turds have very long memories when it comes to this sht.

Govts flip & flop all over the place all the time .... friends close , enemies closer .Bringing the right pressure & using the assets & leverage you have will eventually chisel out a result.
This notion that we smile shake their hand & say .. ah well .. thats ok just keep reneging on our deals , we won't rock the boat has got us nowhere in these dealings & indeed decades of being screwed over & Im glad we finally have a leader who is calling the slime bags what they are in the public domain.

Nsw govt are playing this Well
”we have bigger priorities with people in need right now”
”we’ve delivered two stadiums with a third on the way”
”we’ve always said this is a staged startegy and the next stage is penrith”
”we haven’t said we are not going to do it when the time is right”
”why would nrl punish its fans in Sydney”

the 90% of sydney folk who don’t avidly follow NRL would be reading all that and going, ”yep fair call”.

compare that to vlandys whose coming across as a selfish naive fool.
When it comes to PVL you are a colossal twit.

It's not just a stadium or two and the GF that's impacted by this conflict.

How does the ARLC liaise with the NSW Government on important issues like funding for grassroots when its leader is at war with them?

Dom won’t be around much longer, nor will the Liberal gov in NSW.

Plenty of time for this to take another big u turn. Pete will get what he wants.

I’ve worked with govt’s for funding, that’s not how it works. You find a compromise position, stay friends and never, I repeat never publicly bag them off if you ever want them to do you a favour again.

done nothing? three amazing stadiums and over $100mill in C of E funding. Yeh the games been short changed in Sydney lol.

not unless the labor govt has done a massive U turn since the last election on this issue. I can guarantee they aren’t going to run on a funding nrl stadium ticket whilst the Libs are saying flood victims are the priority! NSW Public opinion is clearly with the Libs on this one.

All of you have a point but PR is right when he says V’landys has painted himself into a corner here. Backing down now won’t sit with his tough negotiator image. This strategy of his only works when Labor offer the ideal alternative that you can leverage but both parties have a similar stance now. You don’t make public threats to a desperate premier who has to look tough cos his job’s on the line.

I think he has to move the GF now just as a f**k you which could make an incoming Labor government listen to you.

probably the same way they now work with nswrl after threatening them then ending up in court against them! Vlads going great this year, they say things come in threes, can’t wait to see who he goes to war with next lol

At the moment it sounds like the original agreement still stands for Accor. If nrl want to be belligerent they can keep the gf in sydney and take the nsw govt to court for breach of that contract. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Vlandys is egotistical enough to do that despite the irreparable damage it would cause.
nrl has three choices as far as I can see
1. back down, keep the gf in sydney and try and get the stadium strategy back on track
2. keep the gf in Sydney and take the nsw govt to court for breach of contract
3. Rip up the deal and offer the gf for sale

gonna be interrsting to see which way they go
