What I was informed of the situation for the new Panthers stadium is that it has been definitely been signed off by cabinet, and it would be unlikely be halted now. But anything is possible in politics. It is definitely much further along the line than the funding which has been halted for the other grounds.
When's the election? If they haven't started breaking ground by then its quite possible Labor will kabosh it.

25th March next year.

The Penrith electorate is a big difference maker. My take on it is that it will be too late anyway with Penrith getting the stadium, and flood relief going to other areas, this should bide well for the Liberal Party.

Plenty of time then to have it to the point of no return which is good to hear. Labor have already said they'll run on a no further stadium funding manifesto so hopefully Penrith stadium is well underway by then and they cant back out of it. Where Labors position leaves the NRL and the GF will be very interesting to see.

General manager of Suncorp Stadium Alan Graham says the Brisbane venue will be ready to host the 2022 NRL Grand Final should the showpiece be moved from Sydney.

The NRL is yet to confirm the host of the decider this year despite having a contract with the NSW government to keep the game in the Harbour City until 2042.

While the deal was agreed to in 2018, the NSW government has since backflipped on some of the finer details on their side including refurbishing multiple local stadiums, leading the NRL to threaten to move the game to the Sunshine State.

Although it’s believed that the game will remain at Accor Stadium, Graham says Suncorp Stadium will be ready to “rock and roll” should they be asked to host the game.

“We definitely are (ready), but I’m not sure where that’s all going to head,” Graham said on SEN 1170 Mornings.

“There’s obviously still more discussions between the NRL and NSW government.

“We haven’t been contacted at all, but if it did work out that way we’d be definitely ready to rock and roll.”
Graham says the NRL hasn’t contacted anyone involved at Suncorp Stadium yet as talks with the NSW government continue.

“No, not at this stage,” Graham said.

“As I’ve said based on what I’m reading, there’s still some discussions to be had there.

“I guess we’ll wait and see what happens with those and where the NRL ends up going with the Grand Final.”

Although they’re yet to be approached, Graham is certain stadium operators won’t need long to host the big game after Suncorp Stadium was the venue of the 2021 Grand Final after COVID ruined Sydney’s plans.

“We often have to put events on very quickly as a lot of stadiums do around the country,” Graham said.

“I think one of the benefits we’ve got from a Grand Final point of view is that we come fresh from a Grand Final last year.

“We’ve got a template and a blueprint already, so there wouldn’t be a lot of work required to dust all of that of this year if it were to happen.

“We could do that in a matter of days and turn it around in a week without much trouble.”

According to reports, a decision on where the NRL Grand Final will be played is set to be announced imminently.

Brisbane is now the front runner to host this year's NRL Grand Final with Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk making a final public pitch on the state's behalf.

The ARL Commission is set to meet on Wednesday evening in Sydney to discuss the October 2 decider, after negotiations with both the NSW and Queensland governments.

ARL commissioner Kate Jones said a report saying the decision was now 60-40 in Queensland's favour was accurate.

"Obviously we've continued to negotiate in good faith with the NSW government around this long-term standing agreement we had ... we're continuing to do so right up until today," Jones told ABC Radio in Brisbane.

"But also the chairman's made it very plain that for footy fans we need to have a location so we can get tickets out to the market and people can come along and secure their place to be a part of what will be a really thrilling Grand Final."

Look forward to the NRL reimbursing those that already have tickets, flights, accommodation etc , when they relocate the game to Brisbane.

The NRL hasn't put tickets up for sale, nor have they confirmed the venue prior to now. No chance the NRL will be reimbursing anyone because they are not liable for that kind of decision.

Corporate packages etc would already be on the market.

Not without a venue to sell them for... Any third parties would be liable if they'd sold them for a venue that had not yet been confirmed.

Only the NRL could sell this as a move for the fans whilst simultaneously locking 30,000 of them out of the game

they're thinking about the next 20 years , not just one
Parrotturd had a chance to lock in Sydney for 20 years , but treated the games chairmen , the game
& the fans

with utter contempt

fair call IF it goes to Brisbane
