At this stage I'll take anyone and this guy could be real handy. I think this move will be good for RTF and good for us, he needed a change and we need a better option than BMM. Him on the right with Kyle, Lomax, Rava could work well.
2023

Left Side
2. Feagai - left wign
3. Suli - left center
6. Amone - five-eighth
11. Bird - left edge forward
8. Lawrie left side pop

Right Side
5. Ravalawa - right wing
4. Lomax - right center
7. Hunt - halfback
12. Su'A - right edge forward
10. F Molo - right side prop

2024

Left Side

2. Sloan - left wing
3. Bird - left center
6.
Flannigan - five-eighth
11. Su'A - left edge forward
8. Lawrie - left side prop

Right Side
5. Ravalawa - right wing
4. Suli - right center
7. Hunt - halfback
1
2. Faitala-Mariner - right edge forward
10. F Molol - right side prop

Yep.
Am I over the moon with these signings? No depth quality only
Do I trust Flanno? At this stage Yes he knows what he is doing and supporters don’t know any better
Did we need players for 24? Yes desperately not the coaches fault and who else was available for depth or 1st grade
Let’s give this regime (coaching mob) time
We have 14 players off contract at the end of this year.
Recruitment for 25 / 26 in motion.
We are in there trying, just need to grab 1 of the goodens over the line to start the trend to success again.
I am on board the Flanno bus for now even though we are going round and round the same route it seems
We still need a tough prop for 2024. Pengai Jr has popped up, returning to NRL from RU. Broncos are looking at him. II say we should sign him for 2024 and 2025.

Nope. No way I would go anywhere near TPJ.

We want players that play at least a 7/10 every single week.

He skews that from the get go.

Bad attitude. Bad for the kulcha. And doesn't like taking orders from halfbacks. No thanks.

This is a pretty reductive way to discuss player recruits. I'm all for having faith in Flanno, and believe he'll improve the team immeasurable... but he's not infallible... especially with regards to recruitment where he has made numerous mistakes already at this club.

I just think we should be aiming higher, especially if we're offering multi-year deals (which we seem to be in this case). We need to aim for proper first graders - at a minimum - and rep players preferably. Tuipulotu is about to turn 23 and still only plays NRL when Manly have injuries. Then there's the whole pride jersey fiasco, when he refused to play for his club because they had a fkn rainbow on their jersey. Ridiculous shit.

As I said, give Finau a crack.
Finau may still be the man, Tuipulotu may be just there for depth, I think trials will sort a lot of positions out, lets just hope we dont get any major injuries.

Getting gazumped by Cronulla for Fonua-Blake just days after offering these quotes:
"a fair bit of dialogue"
"was hoping for a decision before Christmas"
“(If Fonua-Blake signs) I am sure Ben won’t want to go anywhere"
“He would be enormous. It could be the start of the turnaround,
“We need some elite representative-type players and in my opinion he is one of the best front rowers in the game."

Making a similarly public display of targeting Dearden, before failing.

He even admitted this approach was a mistake:
“I’m going to pull my head in a bit … I don’t want to go into those conversations as much now because we’re putting our head out there to get punched again.

Might also mention the release of Sullivan... and the signing of Volkman but these perhaps aren't as egregious
AFB was using us as a bargaining tool people in the club were convinced he was coming, even some silly fans believed it. He was never coming and had his mind made up early on.

Going public about chasing or showing interest in players to appease the masses and media. So what. The only real miss is AFB and I aint too unhappy about that at 1mill a season.
Nah..dont see that as a blight or mistake on Flanno but it is clear you and I differ on real coaching mistakes.
He has not coached a game yet. I will look at the on field stuff primarily before the other PR stuff

I don't have a great memory at the best of times but I will tell you this. I do remember you, and a few others on here, telling me I was wrong to be so adamant that we sign up Nicho Hynes when Melbourne let him go. It was not really a miss as far as you saw it and other posters had so much hate for the idea. He went on to immediately win a Dally M on a fraction of Hunt's salary. Fast forward two years and we are exactly where we were in squad quality.

It's been a complete failure again in recruitment, ever since Flanagan knew he was joining the Dragons. While I pin that more on the rancidness of our club than Flano, I am not going to buy that we have not missed out on opportunities and 'she'll be right'.

I urge some supporters to learn from history and not just expect better things around the corner. If he is afforded the opportunity Flanagan will clear the house of 70% of our playing ranks, especially if they don't perform like professionals.

Im wondering if we are equally needing to get an outside back on our top30 squad now .....not just because we need a replacement for Allan........but because we do have a player we have agreed to let go?...........but we need 29 players listed

ie if we let go of a player now from our squad we fall back to 28 which might prove a problem soon
