On both Fox league shows (NRL360 and Matty Johns Podcast), Fox is already pushing some barrows. The Warriors, Storm and Panthers were offered up on both shows. Matty obviously pushed for the Knights and Fletcher pushed for the Roosters to return.

The "novelty" will wear off. NRL in the US of A is just a pee in the ocean compared to their established sports. Locally we can make a big song and dance about it if you are an NRL fan but even here the game isn't really that popular and if there are too many teams and fewer marquee players to go around, the lowly teams are on a hiding to nothing and this needs to be fixed.

As we know, the AFL is much more popular overall compared to the NRL and the people running that football game know that it is and always has been an "Aussie" sport with little chance of success elsewhere in the world.

Taking teams and games to the USA is very costly which has to be borne by the NRL, ARL, Clubs, Channel 9, Foxsports and I just wonder what the profit and/or loss has been determined as yet? Of course the guys on the footy programmes are talking this Vegas thing up to generate and maintain interest but as I say, the novelty will wear off.

After watching the Roosters game last Sunday I believe we should chase the young front rower May.
He is big and looks to have a good motor. If it means looking at his brother's well so be it. One brother is a quality utility and the other is a descent outside back with speed.
With those three and a quality young halfback it would balance our squad very well.

Taylan May very good player, set to re-sign at Penrith. Tyrone May, scumbag, no NRL club will ever sign him again. Terrell May very good player, but with Taylan staying at Penrith there is no incentive for him to go anywhere and he is set to re-sign at the roosters who are cashed up going forward. Would have loved to get Taylan and Terrell, but it doesn't look possible now

Also Channel 9 doing their stuff as well. It is only money and a change to what we have been getting in a way.

I still don't think in the overall scheme of things that it is a viable venture but good luck to them but keep everything above board and be fair. That silly "monkey business" by Leniu would not have helped the cause.

On another topic I see Bulldogs getting their Centre of Excellence off the ground, does anyone have any updates on whether the DA has been approved for our COE which was submitted in November 2022 and then resubmitted last year due to impacting on some WW2 migrant huts!!!

Braith Anasta in his usual way suggested that the winners of this year's games should be given the chance to go back next year and have another two teams try and knock them over. What if the Roosters and Sea Eagles win again and they go over for the third time and fourth time etc if they win the next three years and so on? That would be a joke of any effin' arrangements to showcase the other clubs playing in this limited competition. Bloody stupid thing Anasta said I think!!

He suggested the two winning teams book their spot for the following Vegas season opene with two challengers desperate to knock them off their mantle.

“Do you bring four new teams over and give four new clubs and fans that experience or do you reward the teams like the Roosters and Manly who won?” Anasta asked.


“And keep them there next year and have two challengers, and then the winner stays on.

“Not every fanbase is the same and has the amount of members so it’s a big decision, we need them to turn up.”

Because our first game of the season wasn't broadcast free to air I had to listen to it on ABC Grandstand radio and after having watched the fox replay on NRL.com I can tell you the ABC boys made the game and the atmosphere sound really exciting, it was a great call that really played up to the occasion whereas the fox boys were boring as fk and did their usual of talking more about their media darling players and teams than calling the game properly or talking up the game itself and Australia to a US audience. NRL outpoints AFL on Foxsports every year. Yes, they draw bigger crowds to games but the money is in TV viewing.

Haha, Anasta, what a dickhead that guy is. It's not pub pool Braith, winner keeps the table.
Hopefully the NRL will make it a little fairer than that and open it up to another 4 teams for the next visit.
Alternatively we could send Manly and the Roosters back over and just leave them there, for good. That'd suit me.

Anasta and most of the ex-rooster "experts" are Politis' mouth piece. All and sundry were already trying to reduce Leniu's length of a possible suspension (if found guilty).

The roosters have too many ex players in the media. When you consider there are 17 clubs and the roosters probably have 30 to 40 % representation. Fletcher, Cronk, Anasta, Fittler, and I'm sure I have forgotten a couple.

I know that listening to the ABC commentary has a lot more going for it than the other radio stations. When league wasn't covered by Fox and free to air channels on TV, listening to the game and how the commentary was given it makes you visualise in your own mind what is happening on the field - same as the cricket. Everything is generally described so that you can actually see things. When the games are on TV there is really no need to describe what is going on because you can see what is happening and the commentators don't need to say much.

Ray Hadley was good calling games on the radio but was not much chop doing it on TV because as I say, we can see things and he just calls it without much excitement in his voice.

David Morrow brought excitement in his calls (especially if the Dragons were killing it) but he was fair with his calls and so too are the ABC guys now.

I find that ex players of clubs should not be part of calling games as they tend to add their bias if they are describing a game that he used to play for. What should happen is that if say the Roosters were playing - no ex player of the Roosters should be a part of the commentary etc.
