Maybe not here but it’s happened. Didn’t some wedding cake shop get sued because they refused to make a cake for a gay couple?
Yes, I did read that a cake shop breached anti-discrimination laws - laws which existed well prior to recognising gay marriage under the law.
Are they not free to be who they want to be if the law says it only cares about your sex not your gender?

Well yes, stupid to try and pursue a gay marriage within a Christian church that doesn't believe it. Just find a church that does believe in it (I understand there are some), or go down the civil celebrant route under the law.
There is already more division than ever by allowing the minority to dictate terms regarding gender. I think there are more people supporting this decision than there are disagreeing. I'm fairly confident that this will lead to less division. It's a popular position. Understand you disagree with it, but don't pretend that what you believe is popular. It isn't.Western society took a backward step overnight.Other countries won’t follow, but it will legitimise and give momentum to a topic that should be left alone. It will cause more division and hurt to people who already find it hard to cope in a world where they are different.
Don't equate SSM with gender issues. I'm pro SSM, but against the idea that gender is separate from sex and don't agree with pronouns and the idea that gender is an undefined, unquantifiable thing. Its childish and regressive.

Does respecting people include respecting their beliefs? I'm talking all beliefs, not just the ones agree with.
If you read my post, I was talking about the international ramifications, which leads to the normalisation of bigotry and vilification. I was not commenting on whether that yanks give a shit. It’s pretty clear that many have a different mindset set to those across europe and the asia-pacific.
