I have never opposed same-sex unions; I just disagreed with the idea of forcing churches to recognise them.

Did anyone force churches to recognise them? I don't think so... since same sex marriage is available via civil marriage celebrants.

Yes, I did read that a cake shop breached anti-discrimination laws - laws which existed well prior to recognising gay marriage under the law.

But I don't think anyone has forced a church to preside over a gay wedding against that church's own religious belief - here or anywhere?

Which is kind of the opposite to Trump's campaign philosophy and early actions... but I guess the world is stuck with that for another 4 years.

Well yes, stupid to try and pursue a gay marriage within a Christian church that doesn't believe it. Just find a church that does believe in it (I understand there are some), or go down the civil celebrant route under the law.

Fair enough, I can see you post was that you disagreed with the idea of forcing churches to recognise them... not that it had actually successfully happened (as these few unsuccessful examples are evidence).
