Are you talking about an edge forward? Unless the scrum is in centrefield, every team has an edge forward defending out of the scrum. They are the number four defender on each side.

Yes it's bloody disappointing...but Depends on the situation....

For example we are debuting Smith at hooker, who is going to make mistakes....and we have a rookie at fullback. But then Moses is out. So suddenly we have to pair 2 rookies in the spine with another rookie in Volkman....it's going to have an affect on our attack.

We recruit Williams, to help fix our middle defence...but then Lane, Matterson are out, so we have to weaken a position (middle) to cover our edge....,in addition we are trying to blood some young forwards...

Add to Simonson/JAC being out...it all adds up....
