Great news!

Rabbitohs extend contract of Liam Le Blanc for Season 2026

South Sydney Rabbitohs
Thu 10 Apr 2025, 01:30 PM
The South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to announce the contract extension of middle forward Liam Le Blanc for the 2026 season today.
Le Blanc, 20, has played eight NRL games since making his debut for the Rabbitohs against the Sea Eagles in round 16, 2024. Le Blanc represented the Australian Schoolboys in 2022 and also represented Queensland Schoolboys in the same season.

“Liam, at the age of just 20, has shown that he has the professionalism, the ability and the hunger to play at the NRL level,” Mr Ellison said.
“He signed with us in 2022, at the same time as his teammates Jye Gray and Tyrone Munro, and he has worked very hard to earn his first-grade debut, his subsequent NRL games and this contract extension.
“This new contract will see him upgraded next year from a supplementary contract to an NRL Top 30 contract, and we look forward to watching him continue to improve and develop his game in the red and green of South Sydney.”

He looks a great prospect and really impressed in the Penrith game.

Will be tough to break into the side though with other troops coming back. When Graham is back, you'd expect Aitken to revert back to playing edge - probably from the bench to start. And if Schuster were to fire, he too could find himself on the pine. Both of those guys would slot into an edge when they come on which means Jai Arrow at least will be playing middle, maybe even Keaon too.

But LLB has shown some steel about him and if he continues to perform like that, he may well climb the pecking order, certainly ahead of guys like Havili.

Wayne would love to have such headaches as to who to leave out instead of who do we have left.

"He has been cleared to finally make his comeback and will line up against the North Sydney Bears on Sunday, despite initially not being named in the side."
DJosh Schuster has overcome a calf complaint. Picture by Max Mason-Hubers

And according to Schuster’s manager, Mario Tartak, once he gets a few games under his belt he will quickly get back to his best.

“Josh is ready to go and when he gets a few games under his belt there will be no stopping him,” his agent Mario Tartak told Wide World of Sports.

“He has trimmed down, lost some weight and is primed to play footy again."

“It’s been a tough time for him since he left Manly, but Souths and Wayne Bennett have been great to him. Wayne has had a real influence on Josh and I think we will all see just how much in coming weeks.”

I'm very curious to see how Schuster goes over the next couple of weeks. He screams a Bennett redemption project. He was a really good second rower when he first came through for Manly. He could add a whole other dimensions to our attack.

Likewise. Ball's in his court. Needs to break serve to get back into the game.

I can't remember the last time Wayne had a failed project player. Wayne will fix this bloke's little red wagon.

Imagine having 3 magic ball players in your side?

Obviously Salesi Ataata has turned out to be the extra prop we were needing to add to our squad for this season and while he is yet to debut, he is proving to be quite solid in reggies. He's 19th man for today's game and will likely drop off by game time.

Made me think about all the talk about Matt Lodge over the preseason. Where's he now? Manly offered him a train and trial contract (after he originally knocked back their low ball contract offer and then no one else would touch him) but he has not been sighted since. I went through Manly's NSW Cup team lists for this year and he has not been in any of them. He's gone.

Just goes to show that being a name isn't the be all and end all. Salesi is a no name currently and while he doesn't look like being a world beater as yet, I'm happy we have him as a back up front rower over dodgy Lodgy.

Lodge is not allowed to play NRL for Manly till Rd 12 or something as he only has a NSW Cup contract

Souths are short of props in their squad while they have too many backrowers. Souths currently playing with only 3 props and Shaq the only other prop in the squad

It will soon be difficult to fit in all of Kolo, Arrow, Hubner, Schuster, Aitken, Duncan, Le Blanc and you still have Havili, Fletcher, Host and of course Murray who is injured

Keaon, Arrow and Le Blanc can play both edge and middle. So, we're not short of props. We bring a backrower off the bench and one of them shift to the middle for part of the game. We also have Ataata as back up as I mentioned and I had forgotten about Shaq he's been out of sight for so long.

Finally, as I mentioned, Lodge has not played Cup all year. Internet search mentioned he is trying his hand at boxing. He's a spent force.

Im not sure arrow can play prop any more,he has lost alot of bulk and even in the 2nd row isnt contributing much goforward, he isnt in form at all, and shaque i honestly think he is a bludger, injured last year carried into this year, miraculously plays for the allstars and since then nothing,a useless player ,i hope he isnt resigned next year, latrells bro or not, host is another waste of cap who cant defend and is injury prone im sure he will be booted

Trell ain’t no 5/8
Honestly I’ve never seen a 5/8 go into dummy half as much as ours did tonight
You're in the wrong thread.
But since you bring it up here, agreed with you.
As I said in the game thread, 2 runs from a 5/8, especially one of his size and strength, just isn't good enough.
And yeah, your 2nd point is one of my pet peeves, like WTF are you getting into dummy half, and taking yourself out of the play, you should be the one RECEIVING THE PASS FROM DUMMY HALF.

Did not see the Schuster game but from the play by play info he was on the field for 30 minutes from the 24th to the 54th minutes.

There are highlights of most of the tries on the NSW Rugby League website. Schuster set up a try in his time on the field with one of his famous no look passes to the winger to score
