No body knows what you've been saying for months. It's trolling and personal attacks followed swiftly by the ignore button...
Which is once again coming into frame.

Get of the drink mate.
At one point you claimed that NZ2 was stronger than the Perth bid, and would come in sooner.

There is no substantive bids as confirmed by the NRL.

Stop punching cones when you wake up every morning

“It is not a foregone conclusion that the 20th team will be a second team in New Zealand.” (Pvl)

So he’s saying it’s very likely

Good to see they are taking about team 20 again

Sold out Anzac Day game at te kaha stadium.

Wonder why they don’t rate the orcas bid ?

On paper it’s a very strong bid and he met with Lowe and Chalmers

Coe

Junior academies all over nz costing millions a year

License fee paid by the bid

Clubs would be biting off Pvl hand for that cash
There is no substance to it.

They're trying to force them to consolidate all the bids into 1

The NRL grant is $17-19mill and then there are the extra running costs of the comp having an extra side in it. Lucky to break even.

You are correct …I see the clubs got a $5m bump after the last deal in 2023 which was a bigger increase than I remembered…. So let’s say break even …. I think it’s still an acceptable result looking back now … I dont think anyone was offering any more from memory back then to join ?

convenient lol
Christurch has invested in a quality rectangular stadium. Sure, it wasn't built for RL but it's an investment in facilities that would form part of what the NRL was looking for in a bid from that city. They've already done that so it's a bonus for any future bid.

Optus doesn't apply in the same way because it's the responsibility of the NRL (and Soccer and Union) to drive better quality rectangular venues around Australia and NZ.

the difference is that when the private Perth bid was declined, NRL negotiations continued with the WA govt ..

There has been zero news from any NZ consortium for six months now … you would have to assume that none of them have any committed money private or public, for things like a CEO or to set up junior development pathways … until this happens… they won’t be able to even get to rhe starting line
Maybe there's just zero news from the NZ bids because a) there's no one leaking anything and b) without the extreme scrutiny that the Australian NRL-covering media puts in, media here have just given them enough space to more easily be quiet & secretive?

Yeah, I think that's precisely it.

I suspect the strengths of one are the weakness of the others, and they're just trying to get the best of all - in one syndicate... plus whatever Government/investor largesse they can get as icing on the cake.

They got an easy ride compared to this expansion round! No license fee, no jnr funding expectation, nothing other than what they already had.

It’s possible … but a lot of leaks from both the PNG and Perth processes look like they have come from the NRL side. And they have a couple of willing media types to publicise what they get told

Are we talking Dolphins here? $2M committed in funding, world class stadium already in place (Suncorp, not Kayo lol), training facilities/COE already in place, full junior system already in place that has been producing for decades, richest club in QLD meaning there was no financial risk to the NRL or existing clubs, the Fox money was the cherry on top and they will play a huge role in getting the NRL a bigger deal this time around too because of the 9th game.

Dolphins were a no brainer it was plug and play.

Hmm.. maybe the NRL just feel it's prudent to keep things quiet on all things "team 20" right now, while Perth & PNG have the attention of media.

I guess a "strategic leak" has it's time & place, but that's not now.

Nobody else could offer more money they were in the middle of the contract and couldn’t take it to anyone else

“20/20 VISION
V’landys said the code’s gradual march towards a 20-team league would also give the NRL scope to reduce the number of rounds and help promote international football.
The NRL currently has 27 regular-season rounds but there is a view the season is at least a month too long, especially if the code is serious about the growth of the international calendar.
Prior to the formation of the NRL in 1998, the Winfield Cup and ARL premierships were played over 22 rounds.
A 20-team competition, in conjunction with Monday Night Football, could see the number of rounds cut back to 19 or 20, creating more latitude for State of Origin and Test football.“

something for the next TV rights … they won’t be selling less content this time if he wants the big money deal… I see he is talking about bringing back Monday night football this deal which is probably more newsworthy I think… I predict there will be a lot of complaints about turn around times for players with games Thursday through Monday … probably rightly so

They'll get the schedule right so no body backs up from Monday to Thursday.
Monday night complaining was mostly the players I think because it destroyed their weekend, had to toe the straight and narrow.

That’s nice of them to ensure they don’t have to back up after 72 hours …

Players time off is rarely weekends when they are travelling to or from or playing games ..this move will increase the numbers of games with 4 days back up… Im not sure they need another night showing RL just to chase a few extra million to make the tv deal look better
