NSW won’t help with any Liverpool plans if they plan on rebuilding Accor, they’d want the Bulldogs there utilising it 10+ times a year if they’re putting a shit load of money in to it. If the Bulldogs can get it done fair play to them but that’s a huge ask.

If Bulldogs keep playing well they could have a huge year for crowds, 30k average is a possibility. 25k is too small for them now let alone in 10+ years.

I know you're struggling to find purpose now Perth is getting a team.
Like trying on shoes .. finding the right thing to moan about.. so until then it's everything?

Hey Gobby …did you see Abdo getting interviewed prior to the Storm v canberra game on Fox yesterday …basically shooting down NZ2 prior to 2031 at the earliest?

Yep. It's probably for the best. The NRL are across far more information than we have access to, so I trust the process.
Rugby league is growing strongly in NZ , I'm certain that on it's current trajectory will get included and only promises to make an even bigger splash the longer it's delayed.

The guys who were saying nz shouldn’t get a second side bc the state of nz juniors was poor and declining really has no idea what he was talking about

The warriors under 17 side winning back to back premierships against the best Australian juniors is proof

You have to wade through so much bs by people that claim they know what’s going on when really just don’t like seeing rugby league doing so well in New Zealand

Mate, I was literally in NZ telling everyone on here what I was seeing and hearing from people there. Apparently I dreamed it..was a fake holiday..then it was because I'm not a Kiwi so I don't understand..

Well the numbers are all coming out that I told everyone ahead of time. Rugby league is booming in NZ, probably more now than when I took my trip.

What I will say going forward is that the stadium being built in Christchurch is right on the doorstep of the city, in very similar proximity as Suncorp is to Brisbane, probably closer actually. There's a cool old tram that goes through the city that's only used for touring. That's city is transitioning from rebuild to growth at it will rapidly, there's lots of people moving down from the North Island ect but that city is going to really boom once that new stadium is up and running. It will create a night-life akin to Caxton St and make the city even more desirable. You have beautiful coastline there 20 minutes from the city and on a clear day, you can see mountains with snow on them from the beach.
The NRL would have hit it out of the park but it's only going to be bigger and better in 5 or so years.
New Zealand 2 is going to be spectacular.

So if it’s such a no brainer …. Why has Abdo said it isn’t happening until the TV deal after this next one at the absolute earliest ?

Because - quite frankly, I think they - (ARLC) have really dropped the ball and I truly believe they are completely tone deaf as to where the state of RL in NZ is at compared to the state of RU. By just listening to Abdo & PVL talk about EVERY OTHER potential expansion scenario except NZ2 - he/they very rarely mention anything about an NZ2 team on any format you hear them on. On Sunday at Magic Round he couldn't even say if an NZ2 side would be in the 2032 broadcast deal - he talked right around it - he said when pushed about an NZ2 side (2032) his answer was "we will look at all possible scenarios" !!!

Maybe Abdo has been listening to the Warriors who say that NZ isn’t ready for a second team for another 10-15 years ?

I also keep saying it’s zero percent chance of happening until someone wants to cough up some money for a CEO and junior development… looking at the shitfight that Perth has been through that figure is $85m

lol … posting a three year old article means anything ? I think what he said at Magic Round on Sunday night trump that
Ah so things can change from he’s said previously lol

Wait till the Anzac Day game is sold out next year at that stadium and Pvl and abdo are sinking back nz finest beers meeting with chalmers Lowe talking about their plans

Tv deal will be locked in at 3 billion with sky nz/dazn wanting more nz content

no… you can never change your mind about something you said 3 years ago
Nz2 was said to come in 2030 or 2032

If it’s delayed two years it’s not the end of the world lol

Timing will depend on how sucesful png and Perth are

Sure if both struggle for players and are running last it may delay further expansion

But having a bye is stupid

You can have an extra game each week and tv paying for those expansion teams

I have no doubt that at some point there will be a second NZ team. Question is where and when. Bigger question is who will pay for it.

I'm not in the 4 walls of the Orcas bid - however - I know that the backers (those that were going to build their COE in Rolleston) are one of the biggest private land developers in the south Island - they are also the owners of the Hotel / bar / restaurant just down from the NEW Stadium and that was going to be for the Orcas bid. Also - just if - they can get NGI TAHU on board - well - anything would be possible (Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation Limited is owned by the Ngāi Tahu iwi of the South Island of the New Zealand. Its main interests are in tourism, fisheries, property and forestry and it is among the wealthiest iwi in New Zealand. Ngāi Tahu annually contributes more than $200 million to the South Island economy.

I guess the NRl wants to see tangibles for the club not just the owner. I mean Twiggy Forest is a billionaire but you wouldnt say the Force are a billion $ club. They also seem to be leaning heavily into ownership of start ups themselves so again would likely expect investment from Govt rather than private backers.

Parking any decision on team 20 for now is the logical thing to do. They have their hands full with two new clubs for the next 5 years. Hopefully come the following tv deal club 20 options will be looked at then.
