Perth/NRL WA still has the rights to "Pirates" don't they?

Could easily use that for the Qld Cup feeder team, if Burleigh objects to them using the Bears brand in that competition.
Bears leagues own tweeds seagulls lc too which just muddies the water even more

It took the Warriors at least 5yrs to master the travel hassle - so I hope someone is working on that. 5 hours one way from Sydney - up to 6hr ex Brisbane. 10hrs ex Cairns.
Probably closer to 20 years to figure it out - however breakers/phoenix/afc/super rugby seem to be fine with it. It’s a disadvantage sure but it’s the hand they’re dealt so need to figure out how to manage it- at least they don’t have the international steps.

Metcalf has been great

One of the Kiwi Union guys that solely posts in this thread here was trying to tell me before the season that Metcalf was an “Aussie journeyman”…

Having said that , the form of the team as a whole is a surprise to me …they looked terrible in that first game in Vegas, and I’m not a massive fan of the likes of Harris- Tavita and some others

I'm starting to come around to CHT . Firstly, he's a good defender for a half and I used to think he doesn't do much which is true but that's what the relationship with Metcalf requires. He just plays his small part, just a catch pass, minimal mistakes but when he's required he steps up.. Last weekend I noticed Metcalf get caught on the 5th, CHT filled straight in with a pinpoint kick.
That's his role and he's nailing it.
Once you see it, you'll get it.

Mate have you seen their for and against, not the F @ A of a top 4 team.
But they`re winning and that`s what counts, and if they really click they`re on a good place on the ladder to capitalise.
Yeah you could take that for and against as a bad thing but I'm not sure it is. They're controlling games... who nails a field goal and backs their defence for almost 10 minutes..
They still need work but they know how to win. Long way to go though.

That’s the biggest thing about this year is the team is winning ugly which is what they lacked last year, much rather be winning ugly than loosing pretty.
Most positive thing is they’ve been doing it for the most part with plenty of frontline troops missing and not putting in complete 80minute performances- if they can get it to click for the full 80 there’s plenty of room for improvement.
Great to see Metcalf growing into the role- he still has a ways to go to be the finished product yet. He has shown to be a solid 6 but there were questions about how he’d go at 7- being on the older side at 26 to be learning still was a bit of a concern too but he’s made solid progress. His halves partner is still up for grabs for mine, CHT has been pretty good foil for him but there’s still a question over his ability to do so consistently. TMM has been showing form too strong to be in NSW cup but he tends not to gel as well with our other halves which throws up a few more selection headaches.

And people question the commercial value of the nz market
Warriors are one of if not the highest seller of merch in the NRL- however I do question the numbers of product availability for these launches of late. Not just the Warriors but plenty of other teams tend to be selling out quickly on launch day creating a scarcity factor so that when restocks come back in those on the fence are quicker to jump in and buy. Seen this in the last year alone with 3 or so warriors jerseys, the retro kiwi and Māori jerseys, the retro super rugby jerseys and have heard mates say similar things with football launches.
Have heard stories of members trying to buy in presale but by the time the cart goes through it’s out of stock, yet later that same day there’s more of the size available.
I’d suspect there’s a bit of supply manipulation going on which is smart marketing

Form is a bit meh

Few losses wouldn’t hurt to kick up the bum

Metcalf has been great

They still have jet Cleary and tannah boyd kicking around which would be good at six

Erin Clark goes good so does that Lakisima
The view is Jet is still a couple of years away, TMM is the next cab off the rank but Tannah Boyd has been pretty strong in NSW cup.
Halasima and Vaimauga have exceeded expectations and been much needed youthful exuberance for us

I'm a massive fan of TMM and I'm not alone because he's keeps getting named to come off the bench, which is a big compliment when you're a half !
This team has incredible depth and shows really good coaching when you have to change centre pairing most weeks and the defensive structure holds up.
Best case scenario imo:
TMM evolves into a player who doesn't go into his shell in the presence of another dominant half, tightens his defence and partners Metcalf.
Roger learns wing well ( as in keeps his line and doesn't over complicate his role in attack) and we get those great carrys coming out of trouble.
DWZ returns to his fearless best on the other wing and Tuapiki becomes the 14 - devastating roving role at the back end of games but covers wing fullback and halves.
Everyone else stays fit.

That's an ideal world but the constant injuries that keeps their side being chopped at changed will come off the tracks completely is the bad case.

Where they are is great but they need to build into more, they need to keep this consistency while slowly introducing some X factor if they want to win the whole thing!
