Tigers will be looking for some redemption after yesterdays humiliation, but if we turn up like we did against Brisbane we should have a comfortable win.

Tigers will be pumped up big time to bounce back at home from that humiliation against the Storm. This will be a tough and tight game I imagine against a side full of motivation.

We have to match their motivation and be as switched on as possible.

AJ the only change at this stage - a reward for the side that got the job done last week. Tats could still be a late swap but we will see.

Every game is important but looking ahead, we have the bye and a hard earned rest next week before a very tough run of 6 games between the 1st and 2nd bye where we are scheduled to play the current top 4 - Wahs (h), Raiders (a), Dogs (h), Storm (h) - in 4 consecutive weeks followed by tough away games against the Fins and Manly.

So a win in this one seems even more critical so we go into the 1st bye with a 6-5 record rather than the other way round before we run into that lot.

1 week at a time for the players though.

The Loft is pleased to see Le Blanc in the 17 and the return of Alex J. We need some more explosive play from guys like Graham-Tass to nudge Alex closer to that record. Gray shall get his opportunity he is good enough to handle almost any position, save 10 or 8.
The Loft would not enjoy seeing Alex break Kenny Irvine's record at another squad. He is, and always will be, one of our own.

Stat Attack

  • Wests Tigers have won only two of their last 15 games at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
  • The Rabbitohs have won eight of their past 10 games against the Tigers.
  • Tigers winger Charlie Staines has scored five tries in five games at Campbelltown.
  • Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston has scored 11 tries in his last six games against the Tigers.
  • Tigers centre Brent Naden has scored four tries in five games against the Rabbitohs.

Turmoil at the Tigers over Galvin is reigniting again if reports are to believed. Will that derail their bounce back focus? Or make them doubly determined?

They can want to bounce back all they like, the fact remains that going by last weeks form, we have them well and truly covered. It's whether we will lose rather than they will win.

I believe the Tigers will bounce back to form but we should still win because our confidence is up and we have Trell humming at fullback now. Last week is only relevant as far as how it impacts this week. Apart from that, it's ancient history. ;)

Previous results have a huge bearing on how a team is going. It's extremely rare for teams to play like crap one week then come out like worldbeaters the next. Just like in horse racing, a horses most recent runs give the biggest pointer to how their next run will go.

Tigers won 3 of their previous 4 matches (defeating Knights, Sharks and Dragons) prior to last week's collapse against a red hot Melbourne.

Meanwhile we have just ended a 4 match losing streak with that come-from-behind win against the Broncos where we trailed 0-14 at halftime.

There's your form guide! Pick the bones out of that!

Teams bounce back from poor showings the following week all the time. Anyone who has followed the game for long enough will know that. Especially teams that had been in good form prior to one bad loss last up. It's why they call it "the bounce back factor". Lol!

Having said that, I think Souths will still win but I expect it will be a tough and tight game. Any complacency in the players' minds based on the tigers showing last week will be fatal and I'm sure they won't be so foolish as to think this will be a walk in the park. The wisdom of Wayne won't let that happen.

Souths to win in a close one.

To properly assess form you have to look at more than just who won and who lost. We ended our losing streak primarily because we started getting injured players back, most notably our starting halfback. I've also been following the game long enough to know that the Bounce Back Factor is a total fallacy. Those who foolishly believe in it only look at the times when teams win the week after a bad loss and conveniently disregard the plethora of times there is no bounce back. But hey, they like having a trite little saying they can trot out to hide their ignorance.
