Rumoured Targets 3

I know lots of people criticize our youth development but the likes of Best, Sharpe, Lucas have become genuine stars in the past few seasons. Hunt, McEwen and Hopwood potentially might go on to be solid/star players, maybe our youth systems aren't too bad? That's like half a starting side.
I think you can look around the League and pick a lot more names that proved themselves viable first graders too. Development has only been part of the problem (and as you said, overstated). Coaching and retention have also been paining us immensely. For some reason other clubs have been able to coach a lot of our discards into really good contributors. And they're the kinds of players we could have kept cheaply and developed ourselves too.

There's probably only one thing we've outright failed to produce in the past decade, and that's a real halfback.

Yep and if there's anything the Dylan Brown contract tells you, it's that POS has run the rule over the kids in the system now, and isn't overly convinced that there's a real long term first grade half in there any time soon.

AOB sees Cant as our long term 13….

on topic, our struggles are largely down to our inability to produce quality juniors in the two most important positions - halfback and prop.

add a quality half and two quality props to our roster and we are competing for top 4 (assuming they stop dropping the f**king ball)

See this is my thinking too. I don't think the roster is as far off as people seem to want to claim. I do think we've failed to fill some absolutely critical squad positions. Actually that much is super obvious.

The predictable response to that is that we had to sack a bunch of blokes to fill those positions. I guess I'll believe that when the positions are filled.

And I think you can throw a new coaching staff in the mix as well.

Well they've locked themselves into a Sharpe/Brown halves combo now, so there won't be a half signing coming to save us unless it's a kid to replace cogger or something.

Yeah. That one recruitment/coaching decision is going to make or break a lot of careers.

Sully has long rated Dylan Brown. He offered him a 6 year deal when at the Warriors. So it was not a case of him waking up in the morning and deciding on the day.

Toohey's News

- Paul Bryan is out for the season but will be offered a new deal.
- In the wake of missing out on Josiah Pahulu, O'Sullivan says paying overs for players isn't the answer and there'll still be movement at clubs (presumably meaning under contract players becoming available). Toohey says Ethan Bullemor is a player of interest but his price is a sticking point so far.
- Knights are apparently very confident that they'll get Dom Young back soon. Once again says the Knights are only interested in taking the remaining 2 years of his deal if they can get him back this season.
- Sandon Smith, Toby Sexton & Jonah Pezet not on the radar. Says Knights won't be going after an established half.

Chammas saying Dom young is a done deal…..fill be here for dolphins game

roosters want to keep him so they can play him in rd15 when they will be missing origin players

“Coincidentally” that match is rooster vs knights

Let’s be honest, in his current form Dom playing against us actually works in our favour. Might be good to get him the week after.

Roosters won’t let Dom Play for us against them. Petty as it gets. Their right. I wonder what PVL thinks in terms of lost revenue and ratings by not having him play them! He is all for the $$$. Well by Dom not playing his return game for us against the club who don’t want him is lost opportunity.

I don't think anyone was paying extra to see a guy currently player NSW cup on the wing play against his old side..?

You think Knights fans would not pay to see that? A favourite son return to potentially get over the club who took him and then discarded him.

Just on the props thing, 3 of the 4 NSW props this year had strong links to the Hunter and but for sliding doors moments could all have been playing for us.

Just the gift that keeps on giving.
