I think Smith may be struggling with the transition to a full-time starting prop in FG.
He has spent the last few years coming off the bench. Usually, after the opening 20.
Now, he is starting prop, that has to prepare, play and conserve energy for 2 stints. You can just see sometimes his energy is down or he is struggling with the pace.
It is a transition that will take time with him I think.

laurie was insurance for pickles and bizza.

But we had no cover for Sorro or Martin. If either got injured or suffered a Cat 1 concussion yesterday in the first 10 minutes, We would have been up the creek without a paddle.
Martin played great, but he was cramping up late in the game. Sorro got tireder as the game went on. Hassett for 15-20 minutes would have helped either of those two yesterday.

He's slow and struggling to breathe from the kick off though. I can't believe he was a fast bowler in cricket, i know hes bigger now but man hes slow

Exactly. This is another point. We had to rely on two 80 minute peformances to carry Daine, one from a guy who played 80 on wednesday.

Not ideal, like a back up plan that has a second rower with half an hour first grade experience covering centre.

The difference is if you dont need the cover then Hasset still wouldve been usefull in getting Martin or sorro a rest. With Daine if he is not needed for Dylan he is not useful at all, and Harry was more deserving on form.

Yeah that's a positive for going that way, but by the end of the week the best option in the event Edwards or maybe one of the other backs didn't make it through the game won out.

Gee there are some hard markers here.

Coming off a good win so much negativity.

I give up.......some of you would give 'sad sack' a run for his money.

The bloke ran for over 100 meters, good quality post contact meters.....mid 30's for tackles. Yet still not good enough.

Hard markers.

Laurie has been a liability this season. That's not a controversial take and it doesn't need a PHD in football science to see it. The lack of confidence is reasonable from a fans perspective and to make it worse since he wasn't used we played without a forward while Sorenson was struggling to even breathe for the last 10 minutes. Ivan is a great coach but his bench usage could be better.
Every thing could have been done better.

I was there and thought the whole side played well with some blemishes. Not many teams are perfect.

How many times do us believe in the coach fans have to hear this criticism of not using a player from the bench because it would of could of should of might have been better.

Did we win? FMD stop worrying about coaching decisions, he's won 4 straight premierships, I'm sure he's capable.

I know you are taking the piss but you could seriously say this about most of our performances this year. Yeah Ivans done great the previous 4 years, right now he is fighting to avoid a spoon not win a premiership, obviously he is making mistakes cause there is no logic to a team with 5 origin players, plus Moses and a few other really good players heading into round 13 in last spot.

Besides team selections we are starting every game poorly. Almost always conceding first points. Our discipline is terrible and there has been no accountability. Again this week, penalty, six again, concede first try. Its automatic for us, its like we are trying to concede first points. How has none of that been addressed this year.

I dread to think what you blokes would have been like today, if Penrith lost.

Would it be lock away all pills and sharp implements kinda of talk.

This is all a bit crazy.

The players are not robots. They are flesh and blood people.

Games aren't won on paper. There won on a footy field.

Call me a flag waver. But gee cut them some slack. Most had limited pre season, due to the international game and surgery. Add in new combinations too......

It was never going to happen in a day.

Cop out. Every club goes through this. When has a bellamy team fallen off like this???? Theyve been top four for 25 years.

I disagree. In my opinion you're being overly harsh. Since when has Bellamy won 4 titles in a row.....

I'll wait.

Some of this is verging of toddler tantrums........

Of course being up for so long, there was going to be a lull at some stage.......Why the anger and almost hatred..

It's not September tomorrow.....a good number of games to go.

We're talking about what's happening right now since that's what a forum is for. The club could go undefeated to a gf win after this for all we know but right now the club is fighting to not win the spoon.

Not trying to argue we've been great, but if Drinkwater misses a sideline conversion and Casey passes to Milky, we're 6-5, inside the 8 and the narrative is that we're poised to time our run for a 5 peat. We're weaker than we have been these past few years but the table is incredibly tight and we still have the biggest game players going around. If a few more things click for the squad and we have a bit of luck with injuries during origin we're in this comp up to our eyeballs.

This is getting quite silly.

Yes we are struggling at the moment. Yesterday improved our situation somewhat. This weekend will hopefully do the same.

I think you are having a tantrum cause you dont like my opinions. im talking footy, you are talking about what i say.

The player you're highlighting Smith had a good game yesterday according to what I saw on telly, and the stats shown by NRL.com

You obviously disagree. So I'll let you get out the voodoo doll and sharpen the pins ready for an attack.
