Damn, Betcats - you are not mincing words here :D

Stuff him. Clearly talking about me but wont quote me, and he wants to act like carrying Daine on the bench after his shit performances this year at the cost of Hasset who played much better last week is a completely obvious decision and above being questioned by anyone who isnt a weird f**k.

Laurie has been a liability this season.
And Jenkins was a liability at fullback. Whether you'd go one way or the other these decisions you're all getting so angry about are splitting hairs, it's not hard to imagine why someone would go the other way or that they have may more information within team.
WTF Dude? Jenkins was poor compared to who? Jenkins had a more than decent game when he started at fullback early in the season.

If you are saying Jenkins is poor compared to Edwards, especially a fit Edwards - Fine, I think we can all agree on that.

But we are presumably comparing Jenkins to Laurie. That being the case, Jenkins has performed far better in that role.
Against Melbourne? He pulled out of contesting bombs, from fear. They scored at least one from them, more I think. Certainly he f**ked up like 3 of them and not in a failed attempt way, but in a timid I'm scared I'm not sure what to do way. Not his position, everyone was injured, it's ok.

I'd disagree but I could understand taking Jenkins at fullback over Laurie, what I wouldn't be doing is carrying on like it's some personal attack.

Boggles my mind that someone might think Laurie on the bench is the only way we could have some sort of cover for Dylan. How f**ken shit must our squad management be if that is true. Do we even have any backs out injured?

Oh yeah like Daine is the only possible cover for an under weather Dylan, what horseshit.

Sorro been shit all year, you are just weird f**k who likes acting superior to other poster without ever doing or saying anything wothwhile. You just have this "i know better" attitude without ever posting anything with substance, eat a dick.
I thought Sorro was pretty good too tbh. I'm assuming that's due to being fresh after 3 weeks off so it doesn't change anything longer term but he played well yesterday.

The bench thing is kind of boring to be honest. I get why some of you whinge about it, and I've never really loved it either, but Ivan has played with a 2 man middle bench rotation this entire time. The other two spots are either, spine, backrow/centre or edge cover. Always has been. Yesterday was no different. Sommerton acting as spine/backrow cover (as Kenny can shift there) while Laurie was cover for Fullback and wing, two of whom played Origin 5 days before. The idea its some monstrous travesty that cost us the game and makes him a shit coach is unbelievably ott, particularly given we a) won the game and b) have had the most dominant period in Rugby League history using this exact strategy.

I know things haven't gone great this season, but the idea that things like this have much impact is pretty ridiculous tbh. Do feel for Hassett, who would have been chomping after last week though.

To be honest I wasn't that annoyed about Laurie being there. I just didn't like having both him and Sommerton on that bench. Even with Kenny playing 80 minutes it just looked too thin. Was dirty Hassett didn't get another shot.

Cole again played some fullback in cup yesterday and pulled off a very important tackle that stopped the Eels comeback. If anyone else is going to take that role on the bench its probably him.

laurie was insurance for pickles and bizza.

That is true. Not just cover for one player.

Laurie goes straight to 1, 6 or the halves if any of Edwards, To'o or Cleary go down. Laurie's recent form has been shocking but Ivan must see him as having more value across those positions than our other options.

Yeah im happy we won on the weekend, that win meant we avoided 70 year plus falloff. Thats how far backwards weve gone this year that you need to go back 70 years to find a team that fell off as hard as we have, so yeah im happy to win but not so happy that im not going to bag weird selections.

Defending with Talagi, Mclean and Jenkins and kept a clean sheet, that's a good effort.

The one thing I will say is that I'm suprised Talagi doesn't come into calculations in terms of replacing a hypothetical Edwards injury.

Just starting to warm into his position. Some guys I'd prefer to leave alone.

Especially with all our edge defense issues this year. The less shuffling the better.

Who plays wing/centre yesterday when Jenkins goes to fullback?

Garner is the one who creates balance. Good in a pinch at centre and our centres play wing.

Exactly the point I was going to make. Garner on the bench creates excellent balance especially when we have flexible outside backs. Jenkins can play Centre/Wing/Fullback. Alamoti - Centre/Wing, Casey - Centre/wing.

If any outside back is injured - Garner goes to centre and we reshuffle from there. And if we don't get any outside back injuries - we use Garner in his best Roll - 2nd row and give a tired and waning 2nd rower (usually Sorro or Papali'i) a break.

Funny how he has become such an important player. Need him back next week.
