This is what happens when the team list is carved in stone, as it is with Fitzy.

You guys will get a look at your "marquee" signing this week.

He'll be easy to spot.
He comes on in the 53rd minute.
Right around the time you'll be thinking to yourself "Talakai's starting to cause us some problems".
That's when SFB* replaces him with Atkinson.
And that'll be the end of anything enterprising the Sharks offer.

If you're not sure what Atkinson looks like, he'll be the one sporting the game day haircut and mustache trim.

* Shit For Brains
Ha ha, LU is much more entertaining than the actual footy 🤣 I love it!! I'm glad you defined SFB as Fitzy, as SFB aptly describes a minimum of 75% of all individuals within our organisation.

BTW - Atko just looks like he needs more game time and more responsibility. He knows he's a bit player at Sharks and is being used like one.... he will thrive as the chief next year... we'll that's what I want to believe.

You may be right about Atko.
I've argued over on our forum that SFB is doing him no favors.
I think he's actually having whatever footballing ability he has coached right out of him.
It seems to be a common theme with SFB's coaching.
Tuku Hau Tapuhu being another example.

You guys look like you've got some good young ones coming through, as much as it pains me to say it.

The other worry is that the journos are putting a spotlight on the Sharks defence. This is what Fitzgibbon prides himself on. Watch the Sharks defence improve tenfold this week.
The Sharks' defence will be looking good maestro1. Our attack is not that great so the Sharks will easily defend against our "attacking" raids.

Ryan Carr really needs to work on our attack. We haven't been too good in that department even in the games we have won so far.

Of course on the other side, if Dean Young thinks that by assisting Laurie Daley in the SOO series he must be a good defensive coach then why isn't he applying what he is paid to do well, for us? Great defence wins games.

Senior Flanagan is not to be free of any criticism. He is the one to make final decisions and choices and ensure that he selects the right guys to play - allowing for injuries and any suspensions. He needs to get the players to understand that running up and down the field in league without executing well in attack, defending the line and minimising mistakes, avoiding repeat sets of 6 agains and stupid penalties will result in a loss. He has to drum solid instructions into the thick skulls of the players.

Without looking it up, when was the last time we had a convincing win over the Sharks?

Telegraph reporting Nick T to debut on Thursday night.
Great reward for the young man.
Was the one glaring mistake last week.. Toby is the #8 no argument.. cant be relying on Lawrie and Tonga in the rotiation imo.. 1 at most.... Nick is as ready as anyone, >20yrs old.. should have been playing more 2nd row instead of ctr.. but hes been playing there all his life.

Dont know how we will cover Val though, but thats a sperate issue..

Nick is covering Val.. remains to be seen how that will go, could get exposed at centre given it's not his natural position and lateral movement can be questionable. At least he should have the strength to handle Ramien if he's 1 v 1 with him. Hope he goes well, but it is a big ask

not loving that.. yeah suli will switch sides i assume.. Nick gets burnt badly if they throw fast backs at him.... but the sharks r more power than speed.. so might be ok.. but dont love it.

Cant have Toby in the 2nd row again damn it.. its probably not the way they want to blood Halangahu though.... but id consider it.

Was it 2020??
No, the best was in 2015 when we beat the Scum 42-6 then next best was in 2004 with a score of 42-12 and in 2018 we won 40-20. On 14 June 2020 we beat them 30-16 and we have not beaten them since which is absolutely terrible to say the least.

It is about time we won again, but I don't think we will next Thursday unfortunately! :(

My memory might be faulty but I thought we smashed them late in 2016 not long before they won the comp.

Yes you are right since77. The Dragons beat the Sharks on August the 13th in 2016. The score was 32-18. I have looked up the scores between the two clubs from 1999 to the end of 2024 (nothing after that until this coming Thursday).

Here is the head to head results from 1999 -
