Really shit spot the Tigers are in, Tallyn Da Silva looks like he is going to be elite, but is behind Api and wants game time, they’ve decided to extend Api so Da Silva wants to leave, has already met with 3 clubs, Parra, Manly and I can’t remember the other, meets with Newcastle Saturday and then will probably be at 1 of those before June 30

Takes me back 5-6 years with Manly, Api and Manase Fainu on the books, Fainu looks a sure thing rep level player for the next decade so they let Api go to Penrith, then Fainu goes with the thug life and doesn’t play another game, and have been playing fill ins at 9 ever since

Dogs was the other one, I think I read?

Still gives me the shits, this playing for one team one week, gone the next stuff. Geez we've had a few this year - B.Smith, Dom Young, Dylan Walker, Galvin, now potentially Da Silva, I'm sure I've missed some.

If Da Silva is that good, Benji should find a way to involve him. But at the end of the day Api is pretty much the best hooker in the game, so reality hurts for the kid

Benjis take on the situation. Da Silva tipped to announce he is off to Manly over the weekend

Marshall on Thursday shot down suggestions the situation had caused a rift with CEO Shane Richardson, who was more keen on Da Silva – a local junior viewed by the club as a ten-year first-grader. Both Koroisau and Da Silva are signed until the end of 2026.
“Me and ‘Richo’ are on the same page,” Marshall said. “The plan from the beginning is what we’ve executed, and nothing has changed

“He’s a really good kid who has a bright future, and I understand the sentiment of, ‘You need to try and keep them all’, but at the same time we’re putting our eggs into Api’s basket for the next few years.

“He’s the guy to help us win more games. To be fair, he’s probably been our best player the past few years, and he’s got more left in the tank.

“I can understand Tallyn wanting to play more minutes and be in first grade, and not wait behind him [Koroisau]. It’s hard to stop a guy in that instance. The difference is, he actually does want to be here. It’s not like he’s saying he wants out. He just wants to play first grade.

“Api is our captain as well. He plays 80 minutes each week, he puts in for the team, and has a lot left to give. We’re prioritising that at the moment.”

Yea it’s a real shame. Both good players, neither wanting to leave, but both wanting to play. Tough decision for Benji but comes with the gig I suppose. Pick one and hope you picked right.

But man the young fella is definitely a loss for them. Not just a good player, but came across as a bit of a leader in that pre-season doco of theirs. If Manly won the race they've definitely got a good one. Makes tonight's game interesting too.

Between Da Silva and Fogarty, what do you reckon Beav? makes up for the loss of pre-announcement DCE?

100%, Da Silva would potentially be the best signing in over a decade. Going from Croker/Jazz to Da Silva is massive, as I mentioned earlier since the Fainu situation we’ve had bit part hookers, if Fainu was around in 2021 during Toms season it may have been better than a prelim. Fogarty is perfect for the side, Brooks hasn’t been able to step up at times with DCE out so wouldn’t want him as main man

The pack is still a huge concern though, keep hearing Buzz and co say it is a top 4 roster, backline yes but the pack is extremely flimsy. Said pre season Paseka was the most crucial man in the squad and we lost him Round 3 and Aloaia has barely played, Tof long suspension, now Olakau’atu gone and we are now in a spot where the fat slob Lodge is starting. Tonight we have Lodge Tevaga Taukieaho B Trbojevic Waddell J Trbojevic, won’t see many worse run out this year than that

I don’t doubt that in the short term Api is the right answer, why wouldn’t they look at a loan situation like Melbourne did with Grant?
