Gus Gould and Cameron Ciraldo have done an amazing job in a very short period of time.

I understand the narrative doesn’t suit the Gus haters on here but credit where credit is due and the Bulldogs are well placed for a top four position in 2025.

We have to play them twice in the run in to the finals and we need to start getting getting better, somewhere near what we are capable of.

I see improvement but we are only performing at 60% where we need to be.

If we are serious contenders in 2025 then we need to make a statement against the Dogs.
They've bought well, no risk about it.

It’s not a case of Gould love, it’s just the reality. Like his methods or not, he has turned around the clubs fortunes so he deserves credit.

What I think is wrong, is bringing in new recruits, many on big money, pushing them over the cap which then requires players being forced out, some of whom have existing contracts beyond this year. I don’t think it’s right.

Im not taking credit away Gould im saying he is doing really well buts it made a lot easier due to money. IMO Laudy deserves as much credit for provding the cheques. If you take Laundy away and but keep Gould there there is no way the dogs are in the position at this time, no way IMO.

As for the second part that has already started, Reed was a big signing hes no on the way out, Sexton not a big signing but he is their starting 7 and he is on the way out, both beofre their contract ends.

Lets see how the Dogs go longer term. You could argue buying up a heap of players was what they needed to get out of the hole they were in 5 years or so ago. Longer term endlessly buying other clubs talent while casting aside established members of the squad isn't a stable strategy. Gould has gone ok but hes still only at the halfway mark. They're not doing all this to be June premiers.

To add a yet another layer to the Galvin signing is the fact that their best junior is a 7 in Mitch Woods.
Burton will be gone this year or next

Trying to stop faceplanting on my desk. Did the long shift and watched 2.5 sessions of the 1st test in the WI which started at midnight.

I must retain some energy reserves to commit my attention fully to the game this evening.

Hmmm, I think we going to see Garner come in quick if Critter becomes trouble for him.
It's like the whole Waqa Blake and Crichton 1st time much up all over again.

Let's go, hopefully their bye makes me a little rusty.

Garner will be required at some point on our left side. Maybe even starting.

Stephen Crichton is an excellent defender but I'd like to keep him in two minds if possible. Short kicks in behind. Even if they manage to cover it will bring Tracey across more often. Might give Nathan some more room to work his magic off the boot when it comes back to the middle/right.

Gus is literally just doing cut/paste from our club to Bulldogs. Our dynasty was built on players we had developed.

Bulldogs are buying anyone they can get their hands on. It’s impressive he can still lure players to clubs. But how long is the bulldogs success gonna last when they’re so eager to change their roster before seeing what it can do? What’s the point in trying to setup junior pathways if you’re more interested in signing established players and never giving the next generation a go?

I agree with this - but are the 2025 Bulldogs the equivalent of 2020 Panthers, or 2014 Panthers?

We had to buy all manner players to bridge the gap while our juniors developed. Sika Manu, Elijah Taylor, Brent Kite, Dean Whare etc. I think that's where the Dogs are now.

The players bought by Penrith in 2014 were mid range players with great characters.

2025 Dogs are buying elite players.....with the wages to match.
