That National Guard scene is inexplicably bleak. Not sure what level of aberration it registers since I've never watched Earthquake all the way through. Perhaps Hollywood was still eager to make a point about the Kent State Uni shootings. Neil Young did it far better.

When I dip into a TV screening, always seem to hit on the motorcycle stunt scene. Like BMX Bandits starring Evel Knievel.

Victoria's hairdo is a bit disturbing.

The National Guard scenes are very disturbing from the earlier scenes where the thugs taunt the guy calling him a f*g while he is preparing for duty and then him finding them after they got caught looting a jewellery shop and shoots them dead and then he tries to rape Victoria Principal before he is shot dead by a police officer.

Other parts of the movie range from good to ho hum, some of the special effects are spectacular but some are down right amateurish especially the elevator scene which should be horrific with the car crashing down the shaft then cartoon blood splatters on the screen, instead of being horrified most of the audience burst out laughing, reading up on this scene they actually tried other effects where the people were wedged through the roof on impact but when filmed it was deemed to graphic and would have given the movie an R rating so they went with the fake animated blood splat which was ridiculous, also another scene where a woman gets hit in the head by a falling pane of glass but you could already see the shards of glass sticking out of her head before the glass hits her.

The motorcycle stunt scene is probably one of the better parts of the movie and yes i agree why did they give Victoria Principal an Afro hair do in the movie but have to admit she does look good in the yellow t shirt and black leathers.

Tonight's 1976 TOTPs re-run showed the promo film of Bryan Ferry's Let's Stick Together.

Didn't Paul Hogan create a spoof where the Jerry Hall part was played by a lady with less slender measurements? Can't find anything on YouTube. Maybe it was a dream.
No it's not a dream, i remember that also but have trawled through you tube also and can't find it anywhere.

This song was written by Bob Dylan, but this cover by the Jeff Healey Band I think is better than Bob's performance of it -

Healey was an excellent guitar player and singer. Even more amazing when you consider he was blind from the age of one. Pity he died so young.

BBC2 are dedicating a whole night to ELO this Saturday. Schedule is - Jeff Lynne's ELO At the BBC, Mr Blue Sky: The Story of Jeff Lynne and ELO, Jeff Lynne's ELO: Radio 2 in Concert, Jeff Lynne's ELO at Hyde Park.

Think the "At the BBC" programme might be new. Rest are repeats. Can remember seeing the doc about 10-15 years ago. Presume the Beeb are obliged to label everything "Jeff Lynne's ELO" for legal reasons.

According to Glen -

"Oh we're so pretty, oh so pretty"

with a few tweaks, maps onto -

"So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me"
Recently seen a comment on a YouTube video which claimed the opening guitar riff is the part of Pretty Vacant adapted from SOS. Could have sworn I heard Glen Matlock say in an interview it was the chorus. Been listening to SOS and can't hear any similarity in the guitars. Not convinced.

Speaking of riff plagiarism. This one's an open and shut case -
This came up while i was driving around Leichhardt and Marrickville today, i actually played 3 times, great song stuck in traffic.

Only doubt is whether they lifted it directly from Ricky Nelson or indirectly from the Blues Magoos.

I just read some of the comments on youtube claiming it was ripped from SOS and had a bit of a laugh. I couldn't pick up any hint of SOS listening to Pretty Vacant.

DLT's misdemeanours were in a different ball park from Savile's crimes. Even so, the BBC will never again repeat this edition. Hence the "Banned" clickbait.

Quite keen on Eruption's version of "I Can't Stand the Rain" at the time. Before I heard the glorious Ann Peebles original.

Legs & Co's Hilda Ogden jamboree is not their most stimulating performance. Worth emphasizing, lest the whimsy be deemed quintessentially British, that all the routines on TOTPs were the creation of American dancer and choreographer Flick Colby who founded Pan's People in the sixties.

I spotted one Australian in the chart rundown.
