We should do alright this year. Upton obviously a huge loss but she was average in Origin so that was nice to see.

I gave her the benefit of the doubt on everything and don't get me wrong, her service to the club won't ever be forgotten, but after seeing that article with Scott Prince saying he spoke to her while she was still here, well I'm a little more skeptical of the old "personal reasons".

Anyway, props still a work in progress but Davison back helps a lot.

We still have the makings of a good team, yet to see whether the coach is up to it or not.
I don't know what article you speak of, nor have I heard of anyone speaking with her, but I think a fair few of us (most? all?) are of the similar skeptical opinion that she chose to leave for personal / family reasons. A factor? Yes, for sure. But the main reason? Highly doubtful.

The family reasons which were cited when she left are absolutely not the real reason and anyone who's at all familiar with what female athlete social circles are like can probably put 2 + 2 together on this one.

I found it unusual that Prince was approaching one of our players, but when I looked at the dates nothing was wrong- Upton was coming off contract, Prince was the new coach at Brisbane, she knocked him back and signed a four-year deal at Newcastle. Nothing to see there.

No idea what you guys are talking about. Someone please elaborate?

There was an article saying how the first thing Prince did at the end of 2022 when he became Brisbane coach was to call Upton with the intention of bringing her back to the club. She declined, and signed a four-year deal with Newcastle early 2023.

I know the seasons don’t align with the NRL and they probably have slightly different rules regarding contracts etc, but surely Upton was fair game considering she was in the final year of her contract. Prince would be an idiot not to approach her back then.

Different story if they were approaching her in 2024 when she still had three years to go on her current deal, which I wouldn’t put past them.

Fair, I must have misread it.

Yeah scrappy first outing so far.

Dogs don't look like a team who's never played together before.

Actually been getting plenty of go forward but they keep following quick play the balls with more hit ups. AOB been consulting on the side with the women’s team?

Both the long line break from the fullback and the try a few plays later are one of our defenders being called out by the ref as offside so just… letting the ball carrier run through. I understand being baulked by it but make the god damned tackle.

Would it be a Knights game without a winger having a shocker and giving a team too much ball in our half?

We've held them up over the line about 6 times now so that's something.

Our dummy half passing compared to theirs has been terrible, gets every set off on the wrong foot.

Defence has regressed in this comp. Heaps of the girls going for under hooks and leverage instead of controlled aggression and hitting with the shoulders.

Wrestle clearly being coached into them too early
