A big f**k you to Madge for picking Reece Robson last year in Origin. So far tonight he's walked around the park, had Luai and Edwards go into dummy half because he wasn't anywhere near the ball, taken a hit up like he was going to make an impact for the first time ever, given away a shit penalty and played a big part in the Harry Grant try. I know Luai is at fault too for not going to Lomax's side of the field after early success but even high I'd pick Api over Robson. Football is a funny game. If Lomax kicks better in game two we win and it doesn't get to this, now he's going to continue his record of shitting the bed as a selector and coach. The sooner we get rid of everyone involved with NSW and start over the better. They make us look good.

I wouldn't have Douehi simply for the fact he's managed by Satan. I don't care what he offers or doesn't offer. AD knows that Satan has an agenda to f**k the Tigers sideways, for whatever reason. Anyone drawing breath and with half a functioning brain knows this.

Yet he decided to bring Satan on as his manager knowing all this. And not long after something apparently minor happens at training and it's all over the media in a negative way. Have a wild guess who would have briefed the usual media outlets that love rubbishing the Tigers.

Anyway that's what happens when you sup with Satan. Now he's not guaranteed go to another club in Australia next year, and even if he does it's unlikely he'll get an upgraded contract. After you take out Satan's 6% he'll probably be losing money.
Im pretty sure he is as good as gone. He is expendable. A bit worried about our gk moving forward....but Im also worried about paying him too much with him being an everpresent ACL risk. Im okay with him going.

Josh Feledy to Manly apparently. I dont think thats a major loss.

We still have Douehi. Faataape, Naden, Staines, Matamua and Tumeth off contract.

Any views? Id like to keep Faataape and I think Douehi is a useful backup (and goal kicker), but I cant see where AD plays when May gets elevated into the back line.
Feledy: He had all the wraps....like so many, just did not develop. Im good with him going.
Faataape is a good depth signing.....if the price is right, keep him.
Naden: Such a frustrating player....I think its time we cut him loose. He is a player I hope finds something in a Shibasaki type way in his future......the physical gifts are there.
Staines: Good back up player.....keep if the price is right.
Matamua: Easy let go.
Tumeth: Let him go.

Didn't Robson have to make a 1000 tackles though.

Very likely Makasini is fast tracked into NRL team & he’s a goal kicker albeit I’d prefer the kid not to have the added responsibility at such a young age

Agree. Developing a player is not just maturing his game on the field but maturing his attitude and knowledge off the field.
LG is a classic example of how the system promoted his faults.
It is hard to get it right under the current system but I still believe an apprenticeship type of scheme endorsed by the NRL and run by the clubs would work. Four year apprenticeship starting in Flegg and ending in KOE.
Players selected for apprenticeships are dependent on pathway success.
Under this system, players like Makasini would be in his final KOE Cup year in 2026 then in 2027 he throws away his L plates enabling him to play NRL.
The salary rises every year until he hits the baseline at which time he earns what his manager can wrangle.
Managers can't get involved until the player has finished 4 years apprenticeship.
Players and managers can't revolt because it's a std NRL organised system. One rule for everyone.
Players on 800k+ deals shouldn't be available to 17-18 yr old imo.
HSC or year 12 is mandatory as is tertiary education during those 4 years to ensure players are not thrown onto the scrap heap if they fail with their footy career.
The system sorta follows American college footy.
The system has flaws but can be fine tuned.
One problem is what do you do with supplementary and trial contracts?
The NRL will continue to put their heads in the sand and allow their product to be mocked if managers are allowed to continue their unscrupulous behaviour.

Souths r deadset having a lend of the concord dopes. If it’s not at least a 50/50 split or max haircut of 300k then he needs to return to Concord.Just another diabolical contract executed under the watch of the imbeciles Pascoe & Hag

Let's not forget Sheens role in this and the rest of the board as well. Whatever you think of Hastings and Brooks individually, their back to back field goal victories showed that they complemented each other well. The board's decision to sack Madge and Sheens' subsequent decision to force both Hastings to lock and Brooks to halfback meant losing both of them without having any depth in the halves. That lack of depth was exposed when backup pivot Brandon Wakeham was left to single handedly steer the ship. That was the catalyst for the frantic buying spree for halves which lead to Sullivan on a huge contract.

Anyway, you'd have to think Sullivan is coming back. Souths have just signed Jonah Glover and they still have Lewis Dodd and Jye Gray on the books. They could also extend Cody Walker for another year as well. They aren't going to pay half-freight, let alone full freight for Sullivan. So why would Sullivan take a haircut to fight it out at Souths when he can simply bide his time here? AD will be gone, Fainu's hammys aren't great and who is his competition? Mason? Sullivan can just chill in NSW cup and be the next man up while he waits to see if Luai takes up his player options.

Doueihi knows he's not getting extended, that's why he changed managers. Matamua and Tumeth are both playing Ron Massey at the moment. Pretty sure their cards are marked. I'm not bothered if we keep Naden as long as he's not in the Top 30 and never plays first grade again. Staines and Faatape are good depth, wouldn't mind keeping them, particularly when it looks like we might lose Bula as well.

Surely we retain Staines as he’s competent enough on the wing & can compete for Turuva’s spot who should be fullback coz we need to minimise the damage via media frenzy that will ensue due to the detestable pissant Moses shopping Bula around.Hence Bula needs to be moved on.Fataape seems like a good kid who is probably too good for NSW cup but doesn’t cut it in the NRL.His future with us is uncertain as we now have 2 guns May & Makasini who’ve jumped him in pecking order & will cement spots in our NRL team sooner than later.

No doubt souths have got a fair bit of money invested in halves who are not certain to cut it in the NRL & it looks like Walker who is a shadow of his former self is getting re-signed.Hence why they are trying to steal Sullivan from us for a contribution of a pittance by them. They can fk off coz whether people rate him or not it’s moronic business to be paying a player 75% of his salary to be playing for the enemy. It has to be at the very least a 50/50 split.BTW re his huge contract with us apparently when we were trying to sign the Fainu brothers Mario Tartak who manages them & Sullivan leveraged our desire to get the Fainu brothers by forcing us to pay massive overs for the dud Sullivan

Whatever squad we have to choose from, the 17 picked on game day are players who deserve to be there. Train hard, prove your switched on and follow the game plan.

@Nuts, massive mistake, but not the only one. Looks like Cleary cant perform in origin and honestly, the Blues need a complete mindset/cultural shift.

They played to their best in the first game, were unlucky in game 2 then lost it completely when favorites.
Agree.
I don't think Laurie can coach SOO as well.
His track record isn't that flash.
I think NSW are arrogant, especially the pro blues media. The pick and stick loyalty that old red nose was going on about re Qld sacking their captain, DCE, in favour of a younger and more determined Dearden. Well who was right? Dearden was their best player. So what right have they got questioning anything Qld does.
The Blues should be scrutinising everything Qld does and learn from it.
History has shown that the blues don't learn.

I'm a New South Wales man through and through but I have lived in Queensland most of my adult life and I've see both sides of the fence.
Imo, Qld have the right mindset suited to SOO and NSW don't. The proof is in the pudding.
I for one would not play players like Latrell Mitchell or the Ute. They offer little. You cannot have players in your side that don't involve themselves for the full 80min or have the potential to walk a lot during the game.
I also have reservations on injury prone players like Tommy Turbo.
