Some recent articles in the Newy Herald ask the question are we entering a rebuild AGAIN as we mull over the contract futures of J Saf, Gags and Frizz. It is a noise which won’t go away unfortunately. What are your thoughts on this issue peeps? Paper filler or are they actually on the money here?

Sounds like we are banking on the future and will potentially have an inexperienced side next season if those players leave or are let go.

I don't mind a rebuild as long as we are actually building something instead of using it as an excuse for not winning.

Are the Herald also reporting on the sky being blue and water being wet? Yes, we have well and truly entered a rebuild.

My favourite part was when they quoted JSaf and Dom saying they would like Frizz and Gags to stay when asked…what else are they going to say lmao?

Is the Couchman who did his shoulder and might require surgery the Couchman we just signed? Did the Newcastle curse strike that early??

According to Toohey’s News, we may look at Papa if Frizz doesn’t re sign

Not interested in Josh Kerr or Tui Kamikamica.

Might be the pessimistic Knights fan in me but I’m not seeing much light at the end of this tunnel…

Are we even looking at any forwards or is the club happy to go into 26 with Brodie Jones and Mat Croker as part of the Front row rotation?

Doesn’t exactly sound promising does it? Because as it stands… 26 is looking a hell of a lot worse than 25. So many experienced players lost and no one being brought in to replace them.

Classic Knights 👍
Barry Toohey has said in multiple articles and tweets that we’re looking for forwards. 2 middles, a backrower and a hooker. Just because we haven’t signed anyone immediately doesn’t mean we’re not even looking at any forwards.

If they are planning on looking at Papa if Frizz doesn’t re-sign though, and Papa was genuinely interested, I hope they’ve given Frizz a deadline because I could see us being left in a situation where we get neither. To be honest I’d ideally want both, and I think we need both with so many rookies, but I guess it comes down to how much money and how many years Papa wants and if we could afford 2x forwards in their mid 30s. He won’t come cheap on his last contract when ESL is an option. There was talk they’re targeting Trey Mooney for 2027 too.

This isn't the case anymore because there are only 4 top 30 spots left and they've offered deals to friz and gags, with the last two spots targeting a hooker and another forward. Literally taken from Tooheys article last week.

They've just signed two forwards, Crouch and Hola, but they're not the "win now" players a few were expecting.

Oh yep I’d forgotten about Crouch and didn’t even know we’d signed Hola. That’s true but what “win now” forwards were people expecting us to sign? There’s not really anyone out there.

Waiting for other teams to push out or release their middles I guess. Mooney is one I've seen mentioned but why would the Raiders release him 2 years early exactly?

That’s the thing though, people seem to be up in arms that the club aren’t signing big name forwards that will immediately change our pack but there’s nobody out there fitting that bill that’s actually on the free market to talk to now? Papa is actually probably the closest to that.

Really don’t understand signing fringe FG forwards. We already have plenty of those, it’s just that unfortunately they are playing first grade.

Banking on them being good in 2027/28 I guess.

This is the list of 2026 forwards. Assuming the new signing is actually a legit NRL player and being generous by including Crossland, I count 5 genuine first grade players there.

Tom Cant
Mat Croker
Phoenix Crossland
Lachlan Crouch
Cody Hopwood
Brodie Jones
Dylan Lucas
Francis Manuleleua
Jermaine McEwen
Jacob Saifiti
Elijah Salesa-Leaumoana
Wil Sullivan
Peter Hola
*Friz/Papa
*New Signing
