Rumoured Targets 3

Playing 13 minutes across the whole season definitely refutes my point. Well done.
Dont be so sensitive

Was just pointing out hes not as bad as youre suggesting. Hes a prop in the team coming first in the QCup and will slot into that same role in our own Cup side, one which will be down on middle stock.

Doubt anyone expects the guy to be starting in the NRL each week

We've shown a good strike rate blooding young outside backs who were fringe top30 guys over the last few years. So not a bad strategy to stock up on middle forwards, where its harder to pluck a 19/20yo from cup/flegg and expect them to contribute much.

Still think we are looking to offload some under contract players. Wouldn't be surprised to see more than one of Cogger, Gamble, McCarthy, Annan get the tap - honestly we could lose all 4 and probably end up way ahead with what we could replace them with.

Is going to be hard to move given he's got another two years left on good money and will attract absolutely no interest from another club. Cogs or Gamblor would get a start in England if we want to keep Arthur, hell the Panthers would take Cogger back I reckon. McCarthy only has a deal for 2026, I'd pay him the difference back down to a development deal to free up a spot.

Annan is a head scratcher. I assumed he was back on minimum.

Signing a guy with flippers for hands in addition makes even less sense of the situation.

You seem to be very weirdly obsessed with Annan. When we first signed him there was a lot of positivity about it as he’s got a lot of natural skills that could fit a number of positions, but changing codes he was always a high risk of sinking rather than swimming. You’ve got to take those risks though, and the club no doubt expected he might not crack on and his presence is not going to break our roster no matter how many times you try to argue he is.

I'm so curious who the hooker might be. We desperately need one. With 3 runners in the spine, we need a proper game managing hooker who'll guide the team around. Crossland going into first receiver from 13 is great but need more control from the ruck. I don't see who it could be as there aren't many off contract?

Could be chasing someone currently under contract... Might explain the secrecy around it

Mooney would not have been touring the facilities if the club was of the view Frizz will stay. They sound like they are fed up being made to wait by Toohey’s account last week.

Sounds like we’re expecting a few to leave if the top 30s full as if not why bother showing Mooney around and Toohey is pretty adamant we’re looking for a hooker.

If we sign a hooker great, Gives Arthur bit more development time.
If not Crossland as we have others that can play 13, need to cover weakest spot

A top line dummy half would help Dylan Brown no end. If we are adamant he will play 7 then the speed he receives the ball is key for him. The trajectory of that
Pass from the ground into his hands has to be accurate and consistent. Crossland does not possess that level of skill. Nor have I seen it from Matt Arthur. Yet!

Apparently Frizz re-signed?

Yeah Toohey says in todays article he has agreed to terms.

Also:
Cogger and Gamble told they can leave.
Annan likely to be pushed out.
McCarthy has other clubs interested and might be let go.
Arthur could stay if Cogger or Gamble leave.
Hooker target is under contract at another club which is why they're not being named

Not that it frees up a top 30 spot, but would people be on board swapping Votano and Wishart with the Storm if it meant getting a deal over the line? Assuming the storm hold the power in negotiations.

Not sure how id feel about a spine of Ponga, Sharpe, Brown and Wishart. 4 genuine footy players, but potential we're playing 3 of them out of their best positions.

I’d swap Votano for a good hooker. He’s talented but unfortunately fullback is his best position and I’m struggling to see how we fit him in. Not sure Wishart would be worth the trade though as I’m not sure what his ceiling at hooker is.

FTR I don’t think the secret under contract hooker is Wishart. Last week Toohey seemed to imply he would be a contingency if the first option didn’t work out. My gut feeling is it’s someone like Starling as the Raiders have one too many now they’ve signed Brailey. I’d much prefer Starling over Owen Pattie who imo is overhyped and not a clear upgrade/more ready than Arthur.
