Banks making record profits that are more than necessary to cover risk, operations, and a fair return for shareholders, all at the expense of customers, especially low-income ones and mortgagors is also disgusting.
And while it isnt the sole reason for housing price increases that are becoming beyond the reach of our kids (with or without parental help), it is a contributor.
If money was cheaper, all that does is flood the market with more buyers of the same small stock. That increases price.
If banks want to go communist, they could make money cheaper for people entering market, but people in that situation (at least the ones who require cheaper money) are more at risk of being unable to sustain that lending. Have you not watched The Big Short?
The biggest contributor to housing prices has been for decades, supply. And as Pou may have been leading to, a big part of that is production and work opportunity. We are too suburban focused

They played this morning.

Everyone on here was whinging 3 days ago about the pou bash-a-thon on here.

Lets move on to other topics

What else are we supposed to talk about.

Vossy talked about the game on his show this morning on SEN breakfast and he talks about the Super League a fair bit on his show.

I know for a fact a lot of posters on here are actually fascinated how Leeds go in the finals this year.

Can BA prove once and for all he can win a comp with a professional sporting team.

Or will they get bundled out in the finals just like Parramatta did under his tenure.

Its as exciting as the NRL finals.

chill mate, I was just parroting what people say about the pride thread

say what you like

Agreed, supply is definitely the biggest contributor, with land, materials and skilled labour all part of that.
But the average house price in Aus. has still blown out from around 4 to 5 times household income in 2001 to about 8 times today. Banks didn’t cause the supply issue, but by lending to people right up to and sometimes even beyond their limit, they’ve made the problem worse and profited from it.

Well the heavens aren't going to fall but fmd is Brian To'o a sandwich short of a picnic? Some of these players need to wear mittens around to stop their fingers from typing stupid things on Instagram.
Or at least keep it in the lads group chat where the public or employer can't see it.

But i thought the Cleary one was quite funny as an outsider. He probably walks around calling himself that as well i reckon.

It’s how wealth has been built for generations in this country full of peasants. It’s why our economy is propped up by mining and home loans, instead of productive activity like in other developed countries.
I’m not sure it’s an ethical argument.
People respond to incentives put in front of them. It would be smarter, and better for the country as a whole, to incentivize investments in productive assets than incentivize speculation in housing.
Ultimately if young people can’t afford a house they stop believing in a meritocratic/capitalist system and start voting for some form of socialism or wealth redistribution. And doesn’t that always end well?

On this year’s form I’d agree but we are talking about 2026. Guymer is only 20 years old and more likely than Moretti (25) to improve significantly over the preseason.

Lot of improvement for both these boys but from a physical stand point charlie has the upper hand.

I just think we need those hard north south runners. Morretti is one of those guys, Charlie at this point is a hard working defender with some ball skills. We got a few forwards at the moment with soft hands, we need guys that wanna tuck and run.

And demand. ‘Investors’ with high incomes get an annual subsidy (tax deduction) younger, lower income earners do not.
It’s much easier for a high income earning 45-55 yr old with high income and other properties as security/collateral to outbid 1st home buyers.

lol if they don't make the top 2 every game is basically an elimination. Just like losing to last place was never a big deal when Bea coached us as well. It's impressive you can still glug him from Leeds.
It’s no different to all the times we beat Penrith or Melbourne. No team is up every week. Sometimes you lose when you’re supposed to win and sometimes you win when you’re supposed to lose. In neither case is the coach to blame for a single result. How were Bellamy or Cleary supposed to know their teams were going to play shit and lose to Parra that week.

Go and flip a coin until it lands on heads four times in a row. It might happen after four flips or it might take a hundred or more. If a coach only has an average finals squad, why should you expect a better than average chance of winning?
